Some of the earlier episodes were a bit boring to be honest. You may have been unlucky and got off on the wrong foot.
I found the character of George Costanza hilarious. And the Marine Biologist episode summed him up perfectly.
Kramer was a little OTT for my liking, however he did make me laugh from time to time.
But I can easily see why you didn't find the show funny, especially if you only watched the earlier "boring" episodes.
