Show your pets

Happy International Cat day to you fellow crazy cat lady! Wow that's awesome, I'm impressed he doesn't go after them! I would've had a heart attack too if my cat did that, haha. Cats are the best, actually all animals, but I do have a special place for cats. They're crazy, funny, naughty and so full of personality, no wonder the internet is full of cat videos.

I love to hear about your cats, please keep sharing it's really nice. I love this thread. I'll have to find a pic of my cat and I'll post it later. Hey does Bo have green eyes?
I lurk in the Caturday thread, always cheers me up. He does have green eyes and actually seems to have expressions with his eyes. He is snoozing on my lap as he does when he sees I have my iPad and am watching BB. We'll need to find a new cuddle time when BB is over. Happy International Cat Day to you too! Look forward to seeing your picture.

this is my partners turtle, hes been living with me for a while now coz my bf is in the army and on base they cant have pets. hes so precious, he always looks like he is smiling at me, brightens my day coming home to him swimming and smiling at me :)

So gorgeous. Is Benny just a Pomeranian? Looks like a lighter version of an old family dog which was a long haired Chihuahua cross pom.
He is indeed a Pomeranian.
Your old family dog must've been gorgeous. I've seen a few Chi cross poms and they're just compact little devils that just melt your heart.

Sorry, but I'm not tech savvy enough to know how to post a photo :shamefully:

Got some bad news from the vet today, and this seems the ideal place to vent. Probably best to skip this post...

My dog is a little 9 year old black Maltese Shih Tzu called Lucy. She is 90% angel and 10% hardcore fucking bitch. Born 2006.

2009 Her cruciate ligament goes. $1000

2010 Her other cruciate goes. $1000.

2011 Diagnosed with arthritis.

2013 Spinal Meningitis, in excruciating pain $2000

2014 Diagnosed with diabetes. Insulin injections every day, and each time she tries to bite my arm off. $1000

Today I was told that she has cataracts, as a result of the diabetes, and her vision is almost gone. It seemed to happen overnight.

I don't know if can handle any more. I very rarely cry, but damn...

I love her more than any other living thing on planet though.

Wow, that was incredibly cathartic.

I've got tears in my eyes as well, it's so hard when a pet is sick, stay strong and I will keep you in my thoughts.

Extremely massive nerdy-virtual hug.
In most cases we love our pets more than we love other humans. Which is why it hurts 1000000x as much when our best little furry friends get sick.. It hurts more than the money that we're willing to fork out to hopefully make them better.
What sucks is we outlive our little mates.. If only we can have them forever and keep them safe and healthy to live the same as us. She's lucky to have you looking after her :)

I posted a photo of my cat a few pages back

Now meet her best friend, Buddy the rescue dog!

buddy.jpg

He's been with us for seven years, so we're guessing he'd be at least eight years old. He's a very sweet-natured dog. He'll put his paws up on strangers, but he knows to be very, very gentle when it's a young kid or an older person.

I got this photo of him when he was playing with his ball. He'll throw it for himself, then go and chase it down.

Kimi has always been rough with him, ever since she was a kitten, when she'd wrap her front paws around his back legs and nip his thighs. He's never growled or snapped at her. Just an all-round well-natured dog.

Oh @Rudiger - I'm so sorry to hear that! Thoughts and prayers are with you!!

I just had a scary experience. I've always kinda said that I wouldn't spend massive amounts on a dog, if they needed surgery or a lot of money I would probably just put them down. I've been saying that ignorantly for years now.

My dog lives with my mum.. but I still see her very regularly, almost daily!
I posted a pic of her back on page one...

Here is my little mangy mutt. She is a Poodle x Maltese x Shitzu.
Naughty little girl!

2h65020.jpg

So a couple of hours ago I get a phone call from my mum in distress saying that she had been washing her and pulled off what she had thought was a little poo-dag hanging from her bum but she started to bleed, quite a lot, from the anal area.

I rushed home and whisked her to the Vets. Now on the way to the vets I am thinking to myself, OK I can pay up to $1000 today, anything more will have to go on my credit card (hah! so much for not being willing to pay for a sick dog!)

Anyway, turns out it was just an infected anal gland which mum had inadvertently burst. A antibiotics needle and a week of anti-inflammatory medicine and she should be fine. Apparently this issue is not uncommon in small dogs, and when we go back for the check up he will show me how to squeeze and manually drain her anal glands in the future to prevent this from happening again, bit of a yucky job - but one that I am definitely willing to do for her.

Only $150 today, but it showed that my long held theory of not being willing to pay heaps for a pet was all a load of baloney! I would do whatever it takes for my little girl!

This is my kitty Charlie, we originally found her as a kitten in the street so we took her in. Her busted eye is due to my dumb cow of a neighbour who found her one day sleeping in her garage (while she was still a kitten) so she decided to smack her with a broom. It keeps getting worse and worse because she really enjoys attacking birds, and when they peck her right eye she fights back, but when they peck her left eye she doesn't see so she doesn't know
Oh poor baby!! I hate people.

Here is one of Milo, yeah I posted some of him last year when this thread was started.

Meet Niles. A rescue whippet we adopted. He has a blue patch around his right eye. Pluto the blue is happy to have a bff. They play. Sleep together x

Meet Kimono, aka Kimi. The unrivalled queen of the beds in my house.

This is our Indian Ringneck Jax! He's such a sweetie but such a cheeky shit as well. He's about a year old and so far can say "thankyou, good boy, come on and come here" and nearly has "whatcha doing" down! He's very special

My Girl is a Working Girl

omg @Lindsay1973 your dog is adorable.... everyone's pets are beautiful - I love animals..

here's my baby, she was named Gracie at the RSPCA where I got her from, but I couldn't decide on a name for her

so instead she has lots of names - pumpkin, smellypoobum, twinkletoes, shittykitty, babygirl, kittykittykittycat, etc -

it all depends on my mood and hers (but according to the vet and cattery she's called Gracie!) she has been my saviour

Oh all your pets are gorgeous!!! I love this thread!

This is my bird Tangee. The cat whose name is Storm (or ocelittle -looks like a small ocelote) is the neighbour' puddy, however he's decided to be a guard cat for Tang. He's there every day at 8am and pretty much sits guard until around 2pm, getting up occasionally to rub against the cage, puts his paw up to it and tangee gives him a little nuzzle with her beak. It's a very cute interaction. )

Wow, your dog looks pretty similar to my first dog, a poodle terrier cross. What a cutie!

Yeah, the money side sucks, and I would've been stuffed except my folks helped me out heaps (I should be able to pay them back around 2076).

I do remember when Lucy was younger the vet would do a kind of cleanse, which basically involved inserting a finger and rummaging. Hasn't happened in a couple of years, and he never told me to do it (thank god). Sorry, but I do not envy you!

The last couple of months I have had to take urine glucose tests morning and night, which involves me popping a little jar between her legs when she wees. Unfortunately, being a female dog, her squat for No. 1 and No. 2 looks kinda similar, and I have been shat on a couple of times!

Hope all goes well with your gorgeous little pooch.

:)

That's pretty expensive for what's essentially a mutt. I love all kinds of dogs, and we've only ever owned crossbreeds, but people are definitely trying to cash in on the cute fluffy puppies. If he got it from a pet shop he was DEFINITELY overcharged, I hate those places.

I love lurking through here and seeing everyone's pets, they're so cute :cat: (there's no dog smiley? :bear:? I call favouritises… favourtsm… favours!)

Anyway this

Glad your girl is ok, Yes, I always said I wouldn't spend a lot of money on pets, but since we have had our girl Rosie, I have become one of "those" people that would be willing to pay to keep my dog well. she is just such an important part of our life
