Humour is THE most difficult thing to transfer across cultures. That's all he was pointing out. Learn another language and you'll realise.

There was nothing uniquely Australian about that joke. It was the sort of joke a group of Indians standing around could easily make with each other. The only cultural reference that could potentially have been misunderstood was the reference to American basketball, which Priya clearly understood.

The problem wasn't with the joke, the problem was their lack of sensitivity. It was obvious that David touched a raw nerve.

I don't know about you but if I make a joke and I sense offence has been taken I stop making the joke. I don't have an expectation that other people should find me funny.
