Katie using the word "poof"

Im gonna bring up an instance of someone famous using the sensitivity of gay people to his advantage. Eminem, at least early in his career, used 'fag' in a couple of songs, and copped a heap of shit for it. Had people rioting over it. Next album - starts off a song with the lines "My words are like dagger with a jagged edge, that'll stab you in the head, whether you're a fag or les, the homosex, hermaph, or a transavez, pants or dress, hate fags? the answers yes"

That album is the fastest selling solo album of all time. Largely thanks to the free promo he got off GLAAD protesting everywhere

So... what you're saying is absolutely nothing, then? How is that any justification? You're basically saying, "Suck it up, faggots, or some white homophobic misogynistic rapper will stand to make profit off using words that have ruined your lives!"

Calm down.
Cos I wanted to
I was showing my son had red hair and is already being 'picked' on at 2 years of age.
I'm not comparing being gay to being a red head but I understand going through life having an insult that people seem to think is nothing, actually really hurting.
I am calm.
Don't like using kids to prove your point. Just tacky.

Please please don't think I that actually think this is the same.

But my son and I have red hair.
The term ranga offends the fuck out of me.

Some guy on the bus the other day looked at my son as he was getting off the bus and says 'wow that's full on ranga isn't it'
And it upset me.

This is my son. Love him to bits and it upsets me that I know he will be teased and he's too young to even realise it yet

So the point I'm making that while someone might not see it as offensive, it still is and can still hurt, especially if people have gone through their lives with it as a form of bullying and taunts .

Omg, what an absolute cutie! :) Is that your daughter too Frankyfurt? You have beautiful kids! x

Oh and re that word that offends the fuck out of you, that's horrible that a random stranger on the bus thinks they have any right to pass judgement on anyone, let alone a sweet little boy.

What the actual fuck? You have let words ruin your life? For the record i got NO problem with gay people. I think they should be treated like everyone else. However there are people who have their reasons (mainly religion) for not liking homosexuals and that is something that gays may have to deal with for a long time. I'm just saying you can't expect all people are gonna be 100 with you.

Yep. They are my world. So cliche but if to wasn't for my kids I wouldn't be here.
Kasey is 5 next month and Fletcher is 3 next month

I truly hope you've been drinking tonight. A lot.

This is so cute!

As a person who has red headed family members I understand the unwarranted attention red headed people get..... It's actually weird, I mean it's just a colour........ as a kid being the only child in my family without red hair, I used it as a tool against my brother and sister when we were arguing, but now that we are all grown up I have realised how much it hurt them to be teased by me and other people about their hair colour.

I don't get the bolded bit.
They ARE part of everyone else. I don't understand why they should be treated LIKE everyone else when they ARE everyone else. Capiche? They are NOT different because there isn't anyone else to treat them different from. People are people. No difference.

I haven't "let" words ruin my life, no, but they very much can. I know several people who have literally killed themselves because they couldn't handle the constant barrage of homophobic insults that LGBTQI people potentially face on a daily basis. I'm still confused as to why you've brought up school and teenage years several times when I'm 22 and I got harassed at the fucking petrol station the other day for "walking like a fag."

And even though my life may not be ruined my life is still affected by these words, be it by the words being directed towards myself, or be it by the words literally forcing people in my community to kill themselves. Wake the fuck up.

@Tuttle

Someone is quoting eminem , that's gotta be worse than my post surely? Lol
No it's not ok.

@Tuttle that wasn't cool. Withhold any further comments about @Frankyfurt's kids or I'll get my moderating finger ready. The analogy was completely valid. As you can see I'm already feeling quite passionate about this thread.
What wasn't cool? I'm a ranga. My kids are too. I would never put their pics in a forum. EVER. Do we have a problem?

I will admit that so many people compliment my son. I just worry though that the younger generation can be horrible.[DOUBLEPOST=1413546310][/DOUBLEPOST]

Someone does

i feel like this is a pointless exercise but um you can, and i'm sure you do, expect people to treat you with the same amount of respect and consideration as they do everyone else. it's not about being "liked" or agreeing with someone's "life choices", it's just human decency. which katie obviously lacks. this whole thread makes me sad. it's so frustrating!

I know that, but it is obvious that they aren't treated like everyone else. I don't know why y'all are getting at me so bad in this thread. I got no issues with gay people. They deserve the same rights to marry that straight people get. But because i said that there's people out there who have problems with gay blokes y'all seem to throw hate at me?
