The HMs were so welcoming with Layla. It was probably because she was so unthreatening. With Leo, it's like they all want him to be deported LOL.
haha my husband said almost the same thing! He pointed out that whenever Aussies meet me for the first time, even just at in a grocery checkout, as soon as they hear my voice they immediately pepper me with questions and are extremely friendly and genuinely excited to tell me where they've been in N. America, where they'd love to go, family and friends they have living there etc. And my accent definitely leans to being more American these days. Friends will make fun of how I say certain words or even the fact we have different words for things ie sidewalk/footpath but I give it right back and it's always light hearted. Yet because he's a buff, good looking guy it's like they want him beheaded for something he has no control over!

Oh and there's no benefit to living on the GC for tax purposes. It's just where he chose to live. I'm pretty sure someone mentioned he came here on a visa with his then girlfriend so maybe she lived there? Not sure.

I probably should've added "of Australia".
haha there's no tax breaks for living here! If he's on a temporary resident visa he'll in fact pay a higher rate of tax than an Aussie. If he's on a permanent one, he'll pay the same and it's on par with Canada.

Yeah, whenever I visit Australia I get a ton of questions too! It's funny because in Australia, my Canadian accent comes through, and in Canada, I sound slightly Australian according to others. It's like a case of being a chameleon! And it's true that people get genuinely interested, but in my case, sometimes women aren't the friendliest about it. I think it's the same with him - the boys just disapprove, so as a result, a lot of the women have as well. I think a lot of the girls in the house this year just follow what the boys say.

Isn't it crazy how that works with accents? The same thing happens to me. Whenever I go back to either Canada or the US, people will tell me I sound like an Aussie yet other than a few rare words, Aussies will say I sound nothing like them. And my husband always laughs because he says after 30 minutes or so of talking to someone from back home, my voice will start to revert to either a Canadian or American accent depending on who I'm talking to but the person on the other end will still insist I sound full on Aussie. People on social media were having a go at Priya initially because of her accent too... saying it sounded too posh or foreign... but that's died off now so hopefully after a bit of time the HMs and viewers will get used to his voice and move on to something else.

Yeah, not so sure why they're so fixated on the accents... Australian accents are actually quite different from most. Maybe that's why haha.

Personally, I love Priya's and Aisha's accents so I wish people would just stop being so worried about Leo's!
