David Appreciation Thread

@BigSisterEm, I'm sure you have a great support network around you, but if you ever want to rant, or cry, or throw something, we're here for you! If that was my brother I know I'd be a tiny bit hysterical, and most likely feeling somewhat helpless. **deep breaths darl**

You should be proud, he's a gem. Maybe sometimes a little rough cut, but precious all the same. The ability to forgive he showed is rare. As someone who can hold a grudge forever, I'm kinda in awe.

It's after midnight here, so Happy Birthday! :joyful: **pulls popper, throws confetti**

Is This the House’s Most Unlikely Friendship?

resizer.aspx

He’s the out-of-place awkward guy who can’t seem to say the right thing. She’s the friend-to-all sunny bombshell with her heart on her sleeve.

It may seem an unlikely pairing, but David and Skye might just be forging the House’s newest (and most unexpected) bond.

We saw a glimmer of a strange new attachment forming last week when David and Skye found themselves mutually afraid they’d be on the Nominations chopping block. When David told Skye he had a “gut feeling” he was a goner, Skye let him know he wasn’t alone.

“Your gut tells you I’ll be there with you,” she said.

“I certainly don’t want to be up against you – because I see you’ll be beating me good and proper,” David bolstered Skye’s confidence. “I think you’ve got a really big fan base out there.”

But it wasn’t until the Illusions Party this week that their mutual appreciation became a solid foundation on which to form a friendship.

You see, David has been feeling very much on the outer since his Housemates slung him straight to the top of the Nominations tally with a whopping 18 points. And Skye’s nothing if not a kind-hearted collector of strays.

“In the last 48-72 hours I have received a lot of negative criticism,” David confessed to Skye, who knows exactly he feels – she’s received her fair share of undesirable ‘feedback’ from Housemates (mostly regarding her overzealous consumption of ‘jelly’ and tendency towards tantrums!)

“You feel like people just don’t get you,” she empathised.” Like whatever you say, they portray it in a totally different mannerism.” (We’re guessing she meant ‘manner’.)

But then, with a solemn face, David thanked Skye for something that brought tears immediately to her eyes! Namely, that nobody but Skye had bothered to even talk to David throughout the course of the evening so far.

resizer.aspx

“This is a moment where I have gone, ‘you are far more mature than I ever thought’,” he told her. “You’re a beautiful person.”

“Everyone in this House is so mean to you,” Skye said tearfully, though David reassured her of his characteristic thick skin, and with a hug the bond was sealed.

With Skye’s deep sympathies aroused and David’s respect assured, we suspect this will be a lasting friendship. Or at least, it’s gotta be better than the former Pair partners who have left them both far behind… Right?

Tempers boil over between Lisa and David.
While Lawson and Cat were blissfully unaware in the Sanctuary, the rest of the House were getting fired up about the duo spending alone time together, with many dubbing their action inappropriate.

Travis felt Lawson should have declined the invitation. “If I had a missus on the outside and a girl wanted to take me to the Sanctuary, I’d say ‘thanks, but I’m not going,” he said with obvious distaste and Sam vehemently nodded his agreement. “Nailed it,” Sam said.

Ryan and Lisa both agreed they felt Cat and Lawson were out of line. “What do you reckon they’re talking about?” Ryan asked and Lisa laughed, “Cheating.”

But David thought the speculation and assumptions were unfair. “I don’t mean to be rude but I think what’s happening right now is really inappropriate,” he piped up, telling Lisa she was ‘inappropriate’ for calling out ‘cheating’.

“Davo, I want to know, where’s the decorum in a 30-year-old taking a 23-year-old with a girlfriend to the Sanctuary?” defended Ryan. “Boom b***h!” Lisa added.

But David was fed up and took Lisa to task for her comment. Lisa retaliated that David was angry at her because she was the kind of girl who didn’t invite him to the school formal, swore at him and told him to get out of the spa. "You get away with what you want because 'you’re Lisa,' David said mockingly.

The argument escalated and ended in tears… on both sides.

But the resolution? Well, we certainly didn’t see THAT coming!

last year Tahan invited Ed into the presidental suite as a friend (although they hadn't announce any crushes) but Tahan slept on the couch and Ed took the bed..
Ed took Sharon a married mother into the PS.
so it's possible for people to go into the suites without cheating but still it's inappropriate for Cat to invite Lawson after her confessions to him this week

It's a fair bet that David's not the confrontational type in everyday life. He's definitely the sort that would rather let things go than call people out on shit being thrown at him. But when your back's to the wall and you have no one in your corner, eventually the most tolerant person is going to start fighting back. He's been an absolute champion being able to go this long without taking the gloves off.

I wish we could have seen more of what was being said in the spa, but I was happy that Lisa confirmed she thinks she should get a free pass for the vile things she says, and also shows she's incapable of letting things go by bringing up the comments he made about her tits, which he already apologised for profusely. Seriously darling, it was weeks ago. Get over it.

I'm also in two minds about the people comforting him afterwards. They're the same ones that have been bitching him out for weeks, yet now that start caring? Did they feel genuinely bad for him, or were they doing it because they felt uncomfortable?

Also felt bad that he said Skye was the only person who came up to talk to him that night. He must have already been close to breaking point, and the comments in the spa were enough to tip him over the edge.

Also want to add that I wouldn't have apologised so soon. I would've said something like "I've had enough for one night, let's talk about this tomorrow". That's just me, though.

I want this guy to win Big Brother.

Genuine, sweet human being who walks to the beat of his own drum.

I hope he absolutely slaughters the others in the vote count and somehow BB is able to let them know that David has HUGE POPULARITY on the outside.

Watch the cliquey skunks all come slithering and crawling back to him then.

I hope your present is that Dave has the most saves tomorrow.

Are you going to the eviction?

If it's the only present I get it'll be a great one :)
I can't go to the eviction on Monday night because of other commitments but our Dad will be there. He's already been told that MikeyG won't be doing interviews with loved ones. Not sure why - maybe too many peeps..? But if the camera pans you'll see Pops. He looks like me but with glasses and moustache :pompus:

Thanks @davidftw!
Plenty of people to rant to but much better therapy and insight from you good folk.
I'm a bit too proud to ever say sorry so I too am in awe. He's adhering to the 'never go to bed on an arguement' rule of thumb.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I'm officially in that new category of age groups *sigh*

I want to see more of the shitty things Lisa said in the spa. I can only imagine how incredibly bitchy it must have been if it actually made Davo shed a tear. It's not like he's been overly emotional before this.

And then Lisa talked about not wanting to be a bitch in the diary room. Just what sort of vile shit did she say that even she regrets it?

It must have been off the charts for even her to realise she crossed the line. It's telling that numerous people stayed in the spa to comfort David, while she skulked off to the diary room to do damage control and insist that she's "not that girl". Newsflash - she's has been that girl since Day 1. I love that David called her out on that and in such a manner that his point was unmistakable. She would not have been expecting that at all. #savedave #laterlisa

Well said. If he can take anything away from this whole Big Brother experience, it should be to stand up for himself more. Probably wouldn't have got to the point it did if he'd done it earlier.

well done dave. one step closer to win. make it two as lawson has officially bowed out of the race. lets watch sam and sandra, that could be his down fall as well. go david. stay strong
and it seems that Travis,Lisa and Cat(depending on who gets evicted) are possible going to target Jason and Sandra at noms.

Even if I didn't already love David as my favorite housemate...he would have moved to my top spot just by giving it to Lisa. That nasty, vile...sub-human...and that's me being nice...always dishes her venom out and no one calls her out on it. Except Skye...but only when she was being cornered and attacked. So for David to put her in check was friggin' awesome. How could anyone not support someone who takes on the biggest bully in the house...especially without ANY backup? He is brave, honest, kind and funny. The only reason they don't like him is because they all lack those qualities...except Skye. And that is why I hope that Skye...who is my top 2nd now...and David form a strong bond and friendship.

I haven't seen today's episode yet...but I hope that article about them bonding at the party was shown on air...along with the fight with Lisa. The public needs to see that he and Skye support each other...so Skye fans keep her friend in there. And they need to see him stand up to Nasty-Lisa...so the ones that don't like her support him, as well. Even though he SHOULD be able to stay in on his own personality alone...unfortunately, BB isn't showing enough of him for my ease of mind. So...if we need Skye lovers and Lisa haters to help keep him in...I'm for it.

Loving David in the house. He's my kind of person really. He speaks out and isn't afraid to say what needs to be said. He's also not nasty IMO, just misunderstood. The others are too into popularity contests they don't see how someone like him might win this through challenging the popular ones. Did no one learn from BBAU13?

The one-on-one conversation he had with Skye was shown. It was really sweet. :shy: As silly as it sounds I think Skye does have an innate sense of how people are feeling. Maybe it's because she is younger and her more simplistic view means she's less tainted by pre-conceived judgement.
