Keeping that in mind, the ratings for last night aren't surprising. With the exception of Brownlow night and one other night where Sydney beat Melbourne by 4k viewers, Melbourne this season has always had more viewers than Sydney usually with a 60k-80 margin, once even over 100k. Even on launch night there was almost a 100k difference between the two. I know I would've just recorded BB if it wasn't for this forum and watched the Footy Show in its entirety instead. Nine won every timeslot last night and we got an excellent episode of BB so I can assume we're all happy!

How much will moving to an earlier time help, if they don't have a following? The show will be well under way, with almost all the twists pulled back...
I think they need to do better, even if they are at a different time, to pull the ratings when it is on earlier.

But shouldn't the great season last year mean this season should begin stronger?Yeah I don't get why some are thinking this is doom and gloom for BB. These are the ratings for day 16 last year. Earlier time slot but still the same performance in 16-39 and this year did better in 18-49. No one expected BB to get killer ratings in this time slot so a consolidated bump of 80k is great. You'd think that Yahoo writer ^^^ would know what's important to advertisers or at the very least not use a pic of last year's HM when talking about this season.
Nominations #2 Figures, August 14, 2013
895k - #9 in total people.
#3 in 25-54 and 18-49 demos and #2 in 16-39 demo.
I think if it were in the same time slot the numbers would be easier to compare but it's actually doing quite well on regular nights. There isn't that 8-11pm prime time culture like there is back home. Here it's more like 7:30-9pm so the numbers were always expected to be lower. The demos are what matter and BB is doing as well as last year and on some nights, better. But shouldn't the great season last year mean this season should begin stronger?

Later timeslot is a killer for the ratings, but also Big Brother is usually July - September/October whereas this year it started much later. That could be a reason for the poor ratings as well.
42k better than last Friday!Nine 230,000
GO! 64,000

Uh
They are pretty dumb changing the times of Big Brother every time... All the comments I ever see on their Instagram is "What time is Big Brother" "What channel is it on?" "Is it on tonight"
I mean there is a tv guide, but a lot of people don't seem to be smart - according to these comments...

That's why I think the biggest competitor for BB is not anything on another channel, it's The Block. That's the show whose success has pushed BB later into the night, and later into the year.
When you think about it, having Big Brother this year at a later timeslot is like a test for it. It has been rating well this year, and when it moves to 7.30pm i think nine will have made their mind about renewing it 2 weeks in. If Big Brother does as well as it usually does in the demos and evictions can manage above 930k, it will be back. I'm thinking of things positively from now on when it come to ratings.

But the show is not doing well, not because of the time slot, but because of the quality of the show.
BB before 2008 would do well at 9:30 pm. While Channel 9 persist on giving us this idiotic pretense of BB, it can't survive, not matter when it is on. IMO

Yeah I remember when even Big Brother Uncut/Adults Only would rate around 900k in a 9:30 pm timeslot. I truly think that it's rather the lack of content/the poor editing that are killing the show this year and not the timeslot.
