David Appreciation Thread

He should have said sorry for what he said and admitted it was wrong. Full stop.

In saying that, is this forum not proof enough that women dissect men... I've done it more times than I care to admit. Lisa has every right to feel upset because no one will take hearing that with a smile, but it happened and he should have just said sorry for saying those things. But she just carried on and by the end I was just like shut up already, and it's almost like she is using it to garner the pity me attention seeking thing. She made a comment about his eyes being too close, did she not? If it's not ok for David it isn't ok for Lisa.

I also feel for David right now. He has expressed feeling a bit like an outsider and that discussion with Lisa, is probably adding to that. I do think he is a good person at heart and I believe he is a respectful kind of person. Lisa spoke to him at times condescendingly and as if he was beneath her

You're a middle class yuppie aren't you UAN? Just kidding, just busting your chops UAN no offense intended. :p :)

It depends on what type of people you mingle with I suppose. If you hang around blue collar workers (i.e tradies) you'll soon realise that the 'high school' tone of conversations you've described never really goes away irrespective of how old they get. ;) :D
Ah, the lovable, childish working class...

Um, it has been said so consistently, in all versions and across all the years of Big Brother that 'it is like high school.' It is so consistently mentioned that I have no reason to suspect that it is not true. Something about the experience reverts people so that they feel the same way they did at school.

David knows he is not fitting in. He was in a lockerroom situation with the big kids and tried to fit in by talking that way. And he got sprung.

He should have apologised, he didn't, just kept digging himself deeper. He could have said something that sounded sincere and that actually bonded him closer to Lisa. He didn't. Instead, he solidified his opposition to her. He is terrible at this game. He can't even see that the beard is hurting his chances.

He got no airtime, and his first moment in the spotlight he blew. Whether you agree with Lisa or not, David did not handle the situation well.

And, really, anyone who talks about their beard as being one of the nest parts(edit: BEST, not nest, but nest is funnier) of their personality needs to....do ...something.

He should have approached Lisa the night before. He didn't, she can come to me.

When he did bring it up he was lying there quite arrogantly, displaying his pits, and made it clear he wasn't worried about her.

When she, quite clearly, explained the situation and pinpointed the divide between them he did nothing to counteract it. He could have said... Oh. That I am so sorry... I was being stupid last night, I wanted to feel accepted by the boys, and I got carried away, and I am sorry that it was you that I put it on. You don't deserve it. Isn't it weird how real this all feels already, how exaggerated. Like, my insecurity with them, and I am sure for you too, this hits you so much harder than it would outside... Everything is heightened...

Maybe something like that would be worth a try. Change the discussion, unite the two of them in some small way... worth a bloody shot at the least.

He's got no game and buckley's of winning. Welcome to the forum, sis.

The boys were discussing breasts, not how pretty or ugly the women's eyes are. They were discussing breasts as sexual entities and disregarding who the breasts were attached to. And it's unfortunate that women are forced to find self-worth from how much they and other men love their bodies. Lisa making note of a gap between David's eyes is not on the same level of diminishing someone's self-worth on a societal level that women get when it comes to breasts. The criticism of men's eyes is not the same as the scrutiny of women's breasts.

and an f.y.i .. women go to the loo in groups to discuss the men. I know the dick h/w/d of EVERY male that the females I know. how are his comments bad?

Welcome to the forum, sis.

Was that directed at me? I'm a guy BTW. :) As for the rest of the post I'll politely agree to disagree and leave it at that.

What David said was demeaning, and he should have said a proper apology to Lisa.

The boys were discussing breasts, not how pretty or ugly the women's eyes are. They were discussing breasts as sexual entities and disregarding who the breasts were attached to. And it's unfortunate that women are forced to find self-worth from how much they and other men love their bodies. As I've said on another thread Lisa has to bear some of the responsibility for getting 'hurt's as that conversation was never intended for her ears. I'm sorry but she brought this on herself, nobody asked her to eavesdrop on a private conversation. She should chalk it up to a lesson learnt and never do it again if she can't handle it.

I'd say the same thing if the roles were reversed and Lisa was bitchily dressing down Dave with the other girls too.

You also have to take into consideration that Dave never intended to hurt Lisa and was just giving a frank assessment of his personal taste on female breasts, nothing more nothing less.

I know that being guy I risk copping flak for stating this but I don't believe it was that demeaning anyway. So what if she has 'saggy' tits? I personally don't mind them and many other guys would feel the same way I presume, heck some might even prefer it. :)

It's a bit sad that too much of her self worth hinges on whether a guy she doesn't apparently like thinks her breast are sexually desirable or not. So from that perspective I do think she's overreacting.

ahhh a g.i.f. :the goto reply of to someone that cant spell enough to articulate a thought

I articulate a lot of thoughts. A lot of good, interesting and valuable thoughts. I won't accuse you of being illiterate and stupid because shaming people about different levels of education is wrong, petty and problematic.

No, that wasn't directed at you.

The first line was directed at the comment about the tradies thing.

The majority of the post was just my take on the situation.

And the sis was addressed to David's sister.

that conversation was never intended for her ears...
Dave never intended to hurt Lisa
that's what it comes down to for me. The intention was never meant to hurt her. We all make assessments and comment about the opposite sex. It was just unfortunate that Lisa heard it. And unfortunate that David didn't just say sorry for what he said. But even without the sorry, I can see why he said he is sorry for upsetting her and not the comments, because in his mind to make comments like this is not abnormal.

I'm a female and I dont agree......Go and put on a push up bra and be done with it. Not everyone looks good without a bit of support there. David cant change his eyes lol.

Do you think men and women are equally scrutinised with their appearance? With their appearance alone?

I don't think you are stupid (you did vote for Tahan after all ;) ). I just don't agree with you on this topic, but I very much like you as a poster :)
