Episode Day 3 (10/09/14) Daily Show

Apologies for not reading through the episode thread but for what it's worth my thoughts - that was a lesson in how not to produce an episode of Big Brother!

So the first 48 hours had about 15 minutes of footage, none of which gave any real indication into the housemates relationships with each other at all. The big twist is supposed to be the pairs FFS - and Good Matches / Bad Matches - yet we haven't even got a clue whether they like each other.

The editing was all over the place - the "headline" scene was clearly from later in the evening than the prize money twist (which was immediately after the newbies arrived). The HMs reaction was pathetic - more sunshine than storm!

And I don't feel I can even give you opinions on the housemates as the show isn't letting viewers get to know them, although Ryan did come across as a dick without even saying anything during the "headline" scenes. Probably pissed off he didn't get any lines!

Question: What is the "headline" scene again? I watched the show but I'm confused by that term.

They had to say what their personal story was and what 'headline' would be used to describe them... Like a newspaper headline

Ohhh - of course. That scene kinda dragged on for me and my mind wandered LOL! Although I did get teary at Jason's story and Gemma's story was also heartfelt.

It seems this was the correct order of the day: The dinner we were shown at the beginning, Priya talking to Jason on the bed about her and her husband, the new housemates coming in, Priya and Katie making the decision about the money, housemates trying to make pancakes in the kitchen, Big Brother telling the housemates about the diner, then the headlines game later that night and finally them going to bed. Have no idea why they didn't show it in that order on the show.

Because we're not watching Big Brother anymore. We're watching another churned out unrealistic reality show now - everything that Alex ever claimed Big Brother not to be.

Can anyone find, or has anyone seen the credits for the show?

Interested to see who the new BB voice is this year now that Pete Cunningham has moved to the UK.

There have been no credits for any of the three shows so far. It ends with a link for the Jump-In site, the "Executive Producers" credits then the Dreamworld title card.

Yeah... They used to be on the website too though didn't they? I can't find them this year.

Nup, they don't have credits anymore. Presumably so they can fit more ads in. The only names that appear at the end of the show are Alex's and Chris Blackburn's.

Yeah I realise they haven't been on the broadcasts... But usually they can be found elsewhere.

Oh that is a cute bull. You can still see it move when you click on it :joyful: I love your bull, it would be so good if the Avatars moved in the thread

Yes, I noticed I could see him move, when I click on him, but its not the same is it. There were some fantastic moving Avatars, now they are all dead :-(.

I found it all quite boring really, but on reflection I know why that is... I WANT another "Tim" in the house and I keep comparing all of them to him. From the moment Tim asked Matt "so that means you've killed someone" (paraphrasing there) I knew he would be the one to watch. It got better from there for me and there was always a cheekiness and sense of fun/adventure with Tim. He was always thinking, right from the get go about how to make things more interesting and get more air time, and I don't get that so far from any of these current HM's.

Priya is as close as you are gonna get to a Tim type person (so far anyway) in the fact she's not afraid to take risks and is making it clear she wants to win kinda thing. The only difference (for me) between Priya and Tim, is that Tim did things in a funny way or made light/joke out of it, while knowing what he was doing would be perceived as 'wrong' by the other HM's and it was endearing. Priya is the same but its coming across as being hard/harsh. They both think alike tho, in my opinion.

I'm so dis-interested in most of the HM's so far, I can barely put their names to their faces. So far I'm liking Skye, Dion (who I didn't think I would but he has suprised me the most, I had him pegged as being arrogant from the start, but so far he's not) Jason, Priya and Sam. I think Sandra (short curly hair/no filter/went to safetyhouse girl) has potential, and I did laugh at the Italian guy's "ghost" story thing. Other than that I'm not fussed on anyone else. As for Jake, well I don't know about him yet. He seems to be acting to me, but I could be wrong. The only thing I think cupcake Katie has going for her is she could be related to Megan Gale. She looks like her alot in my opinion, pity she is a bit on the boring side.

It always happens that the HM's are never what they say they are in their intro videos etc. They "say" they stand up for who they are, won't hold back etc, yet they were all so Brady Bunch in their reactions to the whole 10k/no food/shakes thing. WTF?? Give me some bloody drama! I wanted JUST ONE of them to go off, but no, we got 'oh that's okay' crap. Come on!! I'd be pissed and I would have said so lol. I think the closest we got to anyone's "true" feelings was Jason, when he said he was mad, then quickly did the whole 'just joking' thing.

Over all the whole show is a yawn fest for me so far... but I know its because I enjoyed last year so much, that this year is kind of a let down. It's like going to Disneyland for the first time and marvelling how great and exciting it was, then when you go back you think "meh, can't be bothered, seen it all before".

God I hope it improves. Best thing for me has been Tim's videos of his opinions of it all.

I think that last years winner Tim, was one of the very few people who WOULDN'T have taken the $10,000.00. He broke the mold and pushed the boundaries when he put himself up for nominations last year. Some regarded it as arrogance, I think he regarded it as confidence in he being true to himself.

I tend to agree to a point on this. However, I do think he would have been tossing up the whole 'what would make for great tv' thoughts though. Everything he did he thought about before he did it, which is why I think in the end, he would take the $$, if for no other reason than his own amusement to see what the fall out would be, versus just taking it cause it's $10k. I'm fairly sure in his 2nd video he said he would have taken the money too.

My main problem with last night's show is it's clear we're not watching an actual reality show anymore. What we see isn't the reality. The original concept of the show is that Big Brother was always watching, but so were we. I didn't mind the removal of live cams as much as most people, because I agree somewhat with some of the arguments of it. Would I love to have them? Sure, but I can deal with not having them.

The lack of live updates is another blow. There's no reasoning to not have them, because they can still make sure nothing inappropriate comes out. They can filter it. The thing is that last night's show was the complete evolution of this - we're not getting shown any reality. It's all contrived rubbish.

Firstly, it wasn't in sequential order. Instead, it was in the order that the producers chose for the show to be in. This means that not only are we only seeing the conversations that Alex and co want us to see, but we're only seeing them in the order that they want us to see things. This is manipulating the show to the point of ridiculousness, because, unless it's as poorly edited as last night's show was, we can't actually tell what's happening when, and we can't trust what we're being shown. How are we to know who bitched about who first if we know they will so willingly swap footage around to suit their agenda?

Secondly, it was ludicrously contrived. It's not reality if they're being told to sit around and have a pow-wow about things. It's certainly not reality if they're being told to only talk about things that have been cleared for this bastardised version of Big Brother. Lawson's headline is that he did magic at 13? It's NOT that he has been to university to learn about acting and is in an upcoming film? Yeah, right. I'm sure the magic hobby is totally what defines his life.

Thirdly, it was like watching an episode of Neighbours. This goes back to the editing thing, but why are we seeing so many snippets of conversations so quickly - sometimes seemingly involving people who can't be in that room at the same time as the previous chat that we saw - that make it seem like a bad soapie? Why in the world was there a shot of the house from above? To capture the DRAMA of people being stuck in the house? Yeah, thanks Alex, but it's not supposed to be a drama.

I suppose the thing that annoyed me the most is that I had hope, and Alex claimed to be a Big Brother purist. I like the housemates, and he's clearly pretty good at casing. The show, however, is as pure as water in a sewage plant. The editing smells like it too.

just finished watching BB on GO as i missed it last night.. Feeling underwhelmed to be honest. First thing WTF to the "original" hms virtually calling the late comers intruders, fukn hell you have only been in there 2 days prior. Secondly Ryan for not liking Lawson cuz hes a magician, for fuck sake you only met him like a day ago.. hopefully you are the first evicted you flog!! Thirdly its hard to piece everything together and the timeline in which it happens because it had such a bad all over the shop edit.. please in future edit it from morning to night its not that hard
