Big Brother Canada: Season 2 Discussion [SPOILERS]

Noms & Veto spoilers:

Heather nominated Kenny and Allison. Kenny won the Veto, Allison has been invited into the Outsiders alliance. Heather has told Allison that Sarah will be the replacement, so obviously Sabrina must have been in the HoH's ear once again considering Heather has every reason to nominate her or Rachelle.

how good is this BB? :D  #mindfookmayhem

It's a nice change from the ridged US format and this series in terms of twists is much better than it was last year... That being said it's still the standard game-play from the US version that I find boring...

IMO it's one of the better versions but there is still room to improve...

It's really the same as the US version, minus the theme music and presenter, and I guess the live stream is free for those who aren't blocked or can find it mirrored somewhere. So it has the strengths and weakenesses of that version as well. The strengths being generally good production values and open gameplay, the weaknesses the scripted DRs and censorship of the important live competitions which you have to wait several days to see.

Censoring the comps doesn't bother me - we're used to that and I can understand it - I suspect too it's done more to hide the production interference rather than the competition itself too.

What isn't great are the lengthy blackouts - was absolutely ridiculous last week to block the feeds to keep the ever so obvious nominations a secret.

TBH I watched the live episodes and it seemed as if they actually ran out of time... And by that I mean that they ran out of time for the comp and that Arisa needed time to do her mandatory plug of the BBCAN sponsors...

That being said I agree... They seem to be censoring for the sake of censoring... Nudity and any topic that may be controversial are also censored as much as they possibly can... That annoys me more than game centric items... And given that it was something "special" I can forgive them for wanting to attempt to keep it a secret...

coming from a viewer who has only watched the AU version, i find this format so much better. yes the LF is down when there are comps, but obviously there are reasons for this, the comps are aired on TV so more production. i appreciate what LF there is, and from watching this i know more about the characters, their views from conversations, than i have with any other HMs from the Oz series

the game play is taken a lot more serious, so much so the HGs say their head hurts, there is no rest for these players. i think the prize money would be the let down out of this game, they deserve more IMO. i love the twists inside the game, and i find myself not missing the interaction with BB at all. i see this show as how i imagine a true BB to be, and now regret Canada having their say at all, even though my 2 least liked HGs were put up, the game was dramatically altered by outside interference

how would you improve it @Kingston?

It is a shame they couldn't bump up the prize a little bit more - though as a viewer appreciate the money being spent on keeping the challenges pretty much on a par with the US version and a decent house rather than it being handed to the winner.

I do think though they could cut the cost of the jury house as letting the viewers decide the winner out of the final two would work fine for BB Canada - the game is much more about making the final two than winning the jury votes, and based on last year the jury didn't deserve the final vote anyway considering how they were ruled by their own bitterness rather than respecting who had played the best game.

they could save costs by turning the dishwasher on instead of having them constantly running the tap when they do dishes. a few tea tea towels would be good too, they waste so much paper towel drying those dishes. they are very much a disposable society in there, it's wasted money down the drain and in the garbage

i have to agree about the jury, there seems to be a lot of HGs that are holding a lot of grudges

I know there are a lot of Andrew haters but I'm totally sitting just a few tables away from Andrew right now...
He went way too far with Heather, why should she save his alliance she knows that she is nothing to them. Other than that I liked Andrew pretty well. He seems like a good guy to have a beer with.

I don't think that they have to pay taxes on the prize, so that makes it worth about 250k before taxes if it were US$ instead of 125k

Wait, how can I watch the Canadian version from Australia? I was really disappointed when I found that there was pretty much no way I could watch it from here cause I really enjoyed last year's and it was also the first time I was watching the US Format so I resorted to just reading articles about the events in the house and trying to stay with the season from that but I've heard that's it's a pretty good season with drama and stuff so I would really appreciate some help.

Wait, actually? You're in the same room as him? Ha, how cool.[DOUBLEPOST=1397220201][/DOUBLEPOST]
what are they doing with jury ? they didn't tell the second person out that they were in the jury.

I think it's safe to assume that Canada is a juror. That's what most people are assuming at the moment according to the internet.

They revealed far too much to Kenny for him to be a juror. Another great show (and great week) for BB Canada - easily the best season (in the US format) for some time - and shows a cast can play the game hard without just being damn right nasty.

I'd rather Canada have all the votes than one vote on the jury - with one vote it'll only count if it's 3-3.

I'm more than willing to tell you how but can't figure out how to PM on this new software. If you DM me @Brekkietweets I'll send you back some info on how to watch.

TBH my biggest change would have been to dump the veto and replace it with a public vote... Nominations would have worked similar to the first half of the last BBUS series with 3 nominees... Originally the plan would have been to have the HoH do all the nominating like normal but I actually don't mind the idea of giving a second person nomination power though... The public vote would eliminate one nominee and finalize nominations for the week and the remainder of the HG's would then vote to evict from the final two nominees...

IMO viewer participation in the American format has always been something that they've always missed the mark on... While I've liked the way the BBCAN producers have incorporated it this series I just think my way is more actively engaging for viewers than a random vote every few weeks... And this has the potential to change house dynamics and would help to keep interesting HG's longer...
