She literally posted just yesterday on Facebook that all of her money has finally run completely out, how nice that she can still swing such luxuries.

Hence the ... *GIVE ME A FUCKING JOB* Post. I'm not sure if anyone actually raised it.... Maybe Tully feels like BB was scripted and therefore, she is 'owed' a job/income or some kind of ongoing bloody retirement fund. For mine, the only people who were prepared to sell (each other) out are Tully and Tahlia... Any other HM's do 'EXCLUSIVE' trashy mag deals?

And Veronica...I really hope you are being paid for your SM coverage babe! Doing a Stella job.

"That is a really big prize for me because before Big Broth-er, I was a uni student and on a government student allowance. That's a really big luxury, that the prize money gives me the chance to sit back and think, 'What do I want to do with my life'? and lets me chase my dreams."

What is a government student allowance ? How does it work ?

not a fan of bulked up body-builder types ... so often the brain is not proportional to the reflection
plus I'd like to think I didn't come out 2nd best to a mirror ;)

I understand where the stereotype comes from with boofhead guys being all bulked up because they don't have much else going on so working out was easy, but it's the 20 teens. Now there's the health conscious craze to look after as well as the aesthetic bunch. There are plenty of smart types who happen to be "swoll" as well because they have that free time and motivation. I commend Maddie for having a crack and making the effort to get buff. And she is/was a lawyer so she has/had to have some level of smarts.

It comes into play once you are either 21 or you are forced to move out of home due to distance/proximity to the place where your course is on offer (ie. kids who have family on the land). If you are under 21 and you have both parents, and they both work... And you want to study, you are entitled to ZERO FUCKING DOLLARS. The entire set up is just a joke. Tim get a student allowance, and defers his HECS...kids who actually need it get nothing, even if they are also working. They need to move out of home to be eligible for the hand out.

How a bloke who was working for a radio station was also entitled to a government handout has me wondering... I know kids who work at Maccas, Red Rooster etc and they live at home, and get NOTHING from the Gov't. They work their butts off and COULD NEVER AFFORD TO MOVE OUT OF HOME! Especially into the most expensive fkn suburb in inner Sydney.... Newtown. I really think Tim could shed some light on this for us... Where did Sparrow go?

That's not really accurate, I still live at home (albeit with only one parent) and I'm under 21 and receive a student allowance. It isn't enough to live off but it covers books, petrol to get to uni etc and my job covers the rest. You get more if you move out of home to allow for the cost of rent etc. I don't know if it's the same in every state (I assume so) but Tim would only get it for three years, so if he's saying he's living off that he's either lying or he applied for it later in his studies. He wouldn't have been getting it the whole ten years.

????? Yep... You still live at home with one parent! Why even raise your situation as a comparison? ONE parent is the key here.

As soon as our kids say they have 2 parents who both work... They are disadvantaged.

If you are a uni student, Under 21 and still have both parents who are actually in a relationship, you can't get a cent. Full stop. No fkn books, no fkn petrol, no fkn rent assistance, even if they WANT to move out with mates...WE ARE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR KIDS UNTIL THEY ARE 21!!!!!!!

These are not State Govt rules...

Not always the case I was living at home with both parents and going to uni up until I turned 21. I received an allowance of approximately 250 fortnightly because my parents did not earn enough in a year to financially support me. Now at 21 I've moved out of home and my fortnightly allowance will increase soon as I have to pay rent.

I absolutely applaud anyone who furthers their education in any way... I guess my point has been lost as I was initially referring to Tim's comment about receiving a Government student payment, being a 30 year old student who works... sorry if that was misconstrued. Anyways, I forgot that Tim had 3 International students/people, living at his place when he went in the BB house. That's a bit clever!

You are also allowed to earn up to a certain amount before your payments reduce to zero. Some payment cycles he may not have got centrelink benefits - if he worked that week/fortnight. And you can still get centrelink benefits if you are under 21. (And over 30!). It's all on the centrelink web pages. Asset tests, income tests, rent assist, partner/single, utilities discounts etc etc.

I don't think Tim would have gotten student centrelink payments for very long. You have to be doing a full time student workload (at least 3 courses per semester) to be eligible and I really doubt he would be if he's been at it for 9 years. If he wasn't working he'd either have to be getting some kind of centrelink payments or his parents would have been completely supporting him because he didn't really seem to be poverty stricken pre-BB.

My younger daughter is 20, living at home (I'm a single parent with one child still at school), and is a full-time uni student. She works at Maccas. Some fortnights she gets no allowance (depends on how many shifts she gets during that fortnight's reporting period). Some fortnights she might get $50 allowance - $25 a week. It doesn't even cover her train fares to uni. My older daughter is 24, and had to change to part-time external uni so she could work full-time to cover her rent.

I think Tim may be being less than honest.
