I am probably exaggerating a bit by implying that he was obsessed with Ed but still, from what I can remember, he bitched, especially about Ed, a lot. I remember thinking while the show was on that in the bitchy department he was like a male Mikkayla. On top of the other stuff he liked talking about how "common" Ed was a lot which made me shake my head a fair bit given there's nothing about Drew's personality (I think his look is unique and gorgeous) that I found overly unique or interesting (although I do like him). Of course that is entirely my opinion (and I'm guessing an unpopular one) only so I don't want to upset anyone.
I think if Drew referred ever used the word 'common' in reference to Ed it was in the sense he was not out of the ordinary - nothing special - nothing to do with social class. ie footy player/beef cake guys are a dime a dozen - go to any gym and there are plenty of them lining up in front of the mirror. Likewise guys who look great in a suit ... its "not the clothes that maketh the man" ...

Drew said he himself was a charmer and a chameleon - early on I seem to recall him saying that he'd been talking about football even though he really wasn't that into it in order to fit in with the boys ...(might have been a conversation with Ben?)

I think we saw many facets of Drew in and out of the house - I never saw him as a social snob though

Sigh...you could post this in the Jade thread. they'd love it there. 'Lingering crush'...I don't think so. Bruised ego...perhaps. But overall I think you're reading way too much into Drew's dislike of Ed, which I believe springs from the ant-intellectual macho posturing that Drew seems to believe defines football players. the fact that Ed was patently not that into Jade but was prepared to 'wear' her affections only reinforced his views.
so agree with this

That's exactly what drew meant. Good job, crimmy!

Drew was able to adapt to all groups in the house. Doesn't mean he has alter egos, as he still presented as himself, he just adapted to those around him too. A social chameleon, as he described himself. Like I said in my earlier post, I think ed presenting himself as the good guy is what ticked drew off, just as it did for many of us, and that's what he was referencing in terms of the dime a dozen comments.

I really don't care whether Drew or Ed were 'obsessed' with each other. In fact I don't think I'd even use the word 'obsessed' to describe how both talked about and interacted with each other.

My point is that if any of those 2 were to be described as 'obsessed' (not my words) then it would have to be Drew, that is all. Ed tried numerous times to reach out and establish a connection with Drew only be swiftly rebuffed and then mocked behind his back just for going of his way to be friendly.

And this is coming from a Drew 'fan' but who happens to be of the same sex and hence not blinded by his supposed male beauty. ;)

and WHY did Ed reach out? only because he was losing his mates in the house at a steady rate and was a drowning man ... and Drew saw through it
Added to that by the time he DID bother to reach out Drew was already seeing through him in relation to Jade

yes Drew told Ben he wasn't really into football, and preferred to watch movies on tv, if he had a choice. he said his mates knew he wasnt a huge football fan but still enjoyed the social side of it all.

I think Drew meant about Ed being a dime a dozen and just a regular guy, in that the girls especially Jade, had him up on pedestal and thought he was prince charming, perfect, too good for her, when really he wasn't treating Jade like the princess.
Ed was just an ex-footy player, it's not like he was any different than any of the other HM's in the house but had a good guy image he wanted to uphold, and also the win a date with Ed thing.

since leaving the house Ed does appear to be a nice guy on SM,...even if we aren't too sure about if he lead Jade on knowing how she felt about him, or how he went about finally 'breaking up' with her...

He was never a bad guy, ed was just a regular guy just like drew. Like you said, it's the fact that ed was placed on this pedestal by the girls. I think ed has handled himself amazingly out of the house. He really does seem like a easy and laid back kind if guy, handles criticism well and can just enjoy himself regardless. Unfortunately, the demise of ed in the house was because of his portrayal with jade. Looking back at it all I admit that I put the blame on him unnecessarily.
