I usually agree with your posts Sparrow11, but some of the stuff you've written here I really disagree with, so much so that I felt required to respond when usually I just couldn't be bothered over this issue.
As Insomniac would say, a message can only be received if it was actually sent, and in this case it matters whether it was actually sent to the person that needed to hear it. What gives you the impression that Jade knew it? Also, what were all these signals he gave her that he wasn't keen? He made it obvious to the other HMs that he wasn't that keen, and that in turn told us that he wasn't that keen, but let's think about the message he was sending Jade here.
He'd tell any of the other HMs that he wasn't keen on her, but he didn't tell Jade that. Instead he'd go and hook up with her at the Friday night parties or hop into her bed. That's the thing that made people like Tim and Drew so exasperated with him. Ed would be all like "oh nah, im not interested" to the other housemates, but next minute he's kissing her or hopping into her bed. You say he had to spend more time with Jade when his friends were evicted, and that is totally true, however I think it needs to be remembered that this was the same time that Tim took a crack and Ed pretty much glued himself to her side, and then Justynn came in, he jumped at the opportunity to share a bed with her permantly, and reportedly wouldn't let her out of his sight. I don't think it's fair to say that Jade used his friends leaving against him to snag him, when by this stage it was actually Ed who was doing most of the chasing (whether that's because his friends were gone, he felt threatened by Tim/Justynn, or he genuinely started to like her I don't know). Either way Jade seemed to think that this was just a natural progression of their relationship from friends to more.
The only time he ever made any attempt to tell her he wasn't keen was at the start when he awkwardly told her he didn't want to share a bed with her. And, what we learnt in the last ever daily show, was that when this occurred it was actually Ed that originally asked her to share a bed with him but that was edited out when it was originally shown. So no, I don't think he sent her a message at all, let alone one that was loud and clear. He might have sent one to the other HMs which subsequently gave us the message...but he never relayed the same message to Jade.
For the record I strongly dislike Ed copping crap over this stuff, especially now on social media. Like you, I don't think he's a bad guy...just a bit gutless and would prefer to string her along rather than do something (I.e. actually tell her he wasn't interested) that might have painted a bad light on him. Coincidentally he would have won more supporters by being honest with her. However, I don't believe the line of logic that Ed is the poor little victim of big bad Jade either. They both could have handled the situation better no doubt, but I don't think we need to be throwing "blame" around. That goes for anyone.
