Coming out of lurkdom here (I swear this is my third or fourth attempt - I didn't actually watch all of BB, was fascinated by social media post BB and the Tully / Drew situation).
Firstly, Prufrock and Little Bear, you are both awesome.
Little Bear, your one liners are hilarious.
Prufrock, I have been thinking about conservatism in Gen X recently (I'm Gen X on the border of Gen Y) and wonder if some level of sexual conservatism (and to a lesser degree) gender identity in Gen X is directly attributable to the whole HIV / Grim Reaper campaign. My husband is a bit younger than I am and his perception of the risk of HIV is significantly more balanced than how scary the whole thing was when I was a kid.
I remember seeing those ads when I was eight or so and HIV becoming this near mythological beast to be treated with much fear. Of course, not saying that it isn't to be avoided, but the connotation was that it was an automatic death sentence.
This doesn't necessarily translate to political conservatism, though admittedly, all of my friends are lefties of varying degrees and I don't know a single Liberal voter in my generation. The narrow political spectrum of my social groups does at times concern me even if I agree with them!
