yes it sure is ... but they're growing up with it - they don't know any different world so social media is the norm for them - rather than some new thing that we've seen come about and explode in the last decade ... they use it to their benefit but it can also be their downfall ... they are a lot more savvy with it ... its their reality ... celebrities are not the only ones to feel the weight of it ...
its just a generational change
think of the generations before ... news exchanged by word of mouth or passed on by letter ... then newspapers ... then radio ... then television ... each successive generation has had a different challenge in the way we communicate ... the older generations always looking at the new a little warily at first but coming round to accept it whilst those that grew up with it just accept it as the norm and move forward ..
its not like anyone can escape social media and the impact it has ... we can stick our head in the sand and say "i dont use it" "i dont have one" "i dont want one" but it doesn't mean in some shape or another it doesn't have an affect on our lives
I swear if you don't remove that soapbox you're going to regret it tonight ... not sure what's gotten into me tonight!!! lol
(sorry everyone!!)
It's absolutely generational change. I agree with you there.
But can you see that this particular generational change places (oh crap mind blank. What's he word when the number grows more each time?!?) anyway... A whole lot more pressure to be scrutinized for every little action.
For all we know the stars of yesteryear got up to just as much shit if not more, it just wasn't reported.
Eta: to clarify, what I am saying is that just because it's the norm doesn't mean there is equal emotional pressure
