The walking Dead

I love the Walking Dead, after BBAU its the best show going. I have not read the comics and don't think I will as I don't enjoy spoilers.

I know they are busy just surviving and finding food and shelter. But the zombies seem easy to herd, why don't they dig large pits, lure them in, douse them with gasoline and burn them? I would do that on a daily basis. That would help keep them off the fences, make it safer for Hershel and others to venture outside, etc.

They better not kill off Hershel, he and Darryl are my two favorite characters but I'd also hate to lose any more of the originals.
I just think Hershel provides a good balance to all the horrors, his presence is quite calming, supportive and nurturing.

You could read the comics because they are totally different from the show, some characters on the show are not even in the books and in the comics they Giv was way, way, way worse to Michonne

That's was one big arse hoard :|

I don't, but I wouldn't be against it. Maybe I should look into it.

I don't read TWD comics either. But maybe I should. Although now I'm so far into it that I feel like maybe I would spoiler myself or get bored.

I hope Hershel doesn't die either. He does provide good balance.

That idea about the pits are cool though! But then the story would be boring ;) Plus I suppose the current zombies outside would make it hard to dig a pit.

With a big hoard potentially heading their way, I think they'll have to move on. I think the fence will fall.

Thanks for that :) I'm definitely going to check it out.

I like the new Carol. It's a pity Rick kicked her out though. Freaking arsehole.

Carol is being tough and making hard decisions. I'm not encouraging her to kill people but she did what she thought was best. I wouldn't want her to continue doing that though. But we don't really know what might have been now.

I'm really getting sick of Rick. At this stage I wouldn't care if Rick died. I don't like him at all. I haven't liked him for awhile either. He wasn't too bad in the first season or two but I'm sick of his wounded soldier act. I wrote some more in reply to oddjob below about Rick and Carol. Cranky cranky cranky.

I'm not. I'm cranky at Rick for kicking her out. She didn't deserve that. She did something that he didn't agree with yes - but for fucks sake. I'm so sick of Rick acting like he knows the right decisions. I wish they could have just agreed that it was wrong and promised not to do it again. Carol was trying to protect everyone including the kids. Including Karl and Judith. I wouldn't let her babysit my kids, but I wouldn't kick her out when there's a freaking zombie apocalypse about and she may be likely to die.

I reckon that Daryl will be pissed. He and Carol had a connection. I hope Daryl pisses off from Rick and his high horse and finds Carol. Not happy in the slightest.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another thing I don't understand is why none of them call them Zombies. I've heard Walkers and Skin Eaters and all sorts. It would be the first word I would use.

I felt sorry for those young people getting eaten. Carol was so "whatever" when she saw the walkers eating one. You'd have to harden up in that environment though. I totally wouldn't last.

I'm so bad with names, but I feel for the alcoholic though. I don't blame him. It would be so hard to deal with some of the things you see in this show if it were real. Alcoholics always make me sad though.

Anyway.. that's my comments. Until next time.

I just hope we still see Carol. :(

If you are interested you can check out some of the ones I have read on my reading challenge list...dont judge me my reading tastes are all over the show https://www.goodreads.com/user_challenges/617045

I thought that was a bit harsh what he did to Carol, the council should have been informed and made the decision.Although it could be because he thought Tyrese would kill her.

The pits although a good idea, would waste a lot of gasoline or petrol as we call it here, and I am sure they are running out of gasoline supplies so you wouldn't want to waste what gas you have. The alcoholic dude...forget his name but he is a idiot this is the second time he has put the group at risk because of it,he should be the one that was put out on his own..in a zombie apocalypse you don't need people around like that

Thank you for the goodreads link. I'm checking it out. Plus I never judge - I read such random stuff.

I hope we see Carol again soon :( I prefer her to Rick or Karl.

I think for Rick it came down to simple question, what if it was Carl and Judith who were sick? And as he said the decision was for made for himself, and the answer is he would not stand for someone with Carol's mindset being a position to make decisions about the lives of his kids.

We saw what Carol's current mindset was like this episode, she cannot value any human connection, can't stand a kid calling her mom, says remembering her daughter is watching a slideshow of someone else's life. Right now she is completely disconnected and totally ruthless.

This is exactly what Rick went through when he wouldn't lift a finger to help anyone, leaving that hitchhiker to die on the road being the iconic example. Eventually he realised after seeing how Carl had become you can't have any life worth living if you're living like that, you have to value human life, even if sometimes that means not playing the percentages. I see that as larger kind of courage and intelligence than the path of narrow ruthlessness.

Hoards are cool...does anyone read zombie books?

The only one I've read is Handling the Undead by John Ajvide Lindqvist. I quite liked it but generally the reviews aren't so good. He writes in a fairly sober and thoughtful way about the dead coming back to life in Sweden. It's not your standard worldwide ravenous zombie apocalypse as such which might disappoint people. He wrote the book Let the Right One In too.

will have a look for those,I generally make my own mind up and not go by reviews..people liked that new book by JK Rowling and I hated it,still havent finished it LOL

Ugh I am so sick of Rick. Michonne and Daryl are probably the only characters I like, if any of them die I think I will strugle to watch.

This show scares me to death. I have to watch the talking dead first and then the episode.

How much later do you guys get this than the US? I want to be careful not to spoil anything.

Ha! I am the same way. I like having the show broken down in Talking Dead. Then I can watch it a couple of times in order to catch some of the subtleties...the shows have a lot of layers to them. Very well produced.

Me too,it gives you a lot of inside info and I love seeing the guests views..well except for Marilyn Manson's,he was hard to understand and ruined the whole show with his rambling

Looking forward to seeing Daryls reaction to Carol being gone and seeing what happens to her.Rick putting her out, while I understand why he did it but I mean seriously she is still a woman and likely to come across a gang of rapists or something. One of the themes in most zombie books is how men end up reverting to their base characters and saw the ZA as a time to do whatever they want

Love the Myth Busters dude who was a guest on TD. He had some great insights, especially with respect to the fence. He's definitely someone I would like to be near during a zombie apocalypse.

This episode was quite good, was surprised nobody made more of a fuss about Carol but I suppose we haven't seen Daryl's
reaction yet.The people in the sick part of the prison were really annoying me,just kill the turned patients already, who care's
who see's it..I mean seriously they have to toughen up and realise they are in a ZA and there is no place for sensibilities, everytime
they do this people end up dead.

Haven't seen it yet, really like that show...except when they have marilyn manson on

I thought the same thing. Carol would have been perfect for that job.

By the way, the little blond girl creeps me out.

Yeah,it was stupid..look how tired Glenn got he should have been reserving his strength and
then Herschel chucking the zombie over the side...in the head Herschel,In the head..stupid!!

That little girl is very creepy..she is going to be responsible for someone getting killed.....or
oooh just a though but maybe the governer will take her because she reminds him of his
daughter?

I looked for a link to this with no luck. Also, I really think Carol will be back... Maybe somehow connected to the return of the Govenor. Carol might save the day!
