Jade 2013 Appreciation thread

Yeah I hate that so much. I think they encourage it.
I also think I'm the only person on here who fast forwards Sonia because I can't stand her mocking either..
Just like some people on here laughing when she's hurting. Doesn't sit well.

Me too! I cant watch Sonia at all. For exactly that reason and I find her hosting weak. Seems Jade has ruffled feathers with people worried she might be a contender from what I'm reading on the forum. Love it!

What really hit home for Jade is that she couldn't believe that her prince nominated her to leave the house. She should have listened to Tahan when she said that Ed's nom was within the last 2 months, this is going to be eating away at her. I felt so bad that they showed that footage. She must have been thinking *What's going on? The guy who knew I liked him wanted me gone? For strategy? Out of all these people? Why Ed?* :(

In a live feed video Jade just said "So he [Ed] tried to get rid of me twice and you two [Tim and Drew] saved me" *Standing ovation* Bravo Jade!!

That was very sad and it was written all over her face how much it hurt. I do like though that in one of tonight's updates Jade gets into the hotub and acknowledges that Ed tried to get rid of her twice and she just seems really confident. I hope she shuns any attention Ed tries to give her once she leaves cause it will only be to make himself look better. Jade is a wonderful girl and can have her pick of them. Why waste another second on Ed!

I think Jade has handled all the shit that has been thrown at her in the space of 24 hours very, very well. She is showing the inner strength that she has always had but doesn't realize is there. I know she is receiving help from the other HMs and I think it's lovely that they seem to want the best for her. If she comes out of this experience knowing more about who she is and confident in her own skin, then no matter what happens, she's a winner.

Having said that, I am really not fond of the new narrative that paints Ed an asshole and Tim and Drew the heroes because reality, as usual, is more complicated than this limited view.

First of all, there's the fact that the only reason that Ed was forced to choose between Jade and Tim that week was because Drew nominated her. Yes, Drew ended up being the "hero" that week but it's definitely complicated. The irony is that Jade was always safe that week and it was mainly because Matt was up there that Ed was safe at all so Drew's act saved Ed rather than Jade. Tim saving her the following week was all about getting Tully out, not wanting to keep Jade in. Tim, of course, used his saving her as his own manipulative tool, both on Jade and on the audience. He set up the narrative of the fool vs. Prince Charming, with Jade as the arrogant princess who didn't appreciate the generous acts of the fool.

Ed nominating Jade is complicated by the fact that he nominated Tahan as well, even though she was one of his closest friends in the house at that time. His mentality was that he was alone and he was playing only for himself, a perfectly valid approach. This is not to say he was not a hypocrite about the whole nomination thing with Drew and Tim. But that's complicated as well, because in some ways he was just defending Jade and Jade WASN'T being a hypocrite. She had very valid reasons for being upset with the boys, particularly since they gave such horrible reasons for her nomination. Tim certainly can feel that Ed's claim that Ed had a different approach to the game than Tim was invalid, but it doesn't negate the fact that Jade still is entitled to make that claim and Ed is entitled to support her in doing so, no matter what his own behavior may be.

As someone who wants Jade to get all the sympathy and votes possible out of the "he done her wrong" narrative, I applaud the shift in attitude I'm seeing towards her. I just want to remind everyone that these relationships are complicated and certainly not zero sum. I think Jade is way too good for Ed, and I would love for her to come to that realization that she deserves better but I also think it's important for her to not just jump between the "good guy" and "bad guy" narratives when considering how she wants to think about all of her relationships in the house. She was blind about Ed's flaws before, ONLY focusing on those flaws is not necessarily a healthier option.

Jane Doe I don't think she'd do that. She might be feeling a little confused because Ed was so adamant that Tim/Drew nominating her was a betrayal of that friendship, and she probably doesn't understand why when he did it too (no matter what the reason).
However her saying 'so you're all in the same boat' makes me think that instead of thinking badly of Ed it will just allow her to get over the fact that Tim and Drew nominated her and not take that as a betrayal.

I think it's good for her not just to be focused on Ed this week, to see her enjoying herself with the other housemates and participating as a group would be terrific for her.

She can worry about Ed when she gets out.

I really liked that with Jade's trick and treat that there was only ONE unpleasant moment for her.....ie her frustrated comment about Tahan and the hole.
Whereas the others ALL had lots of bitching , backstabbing, dobbing or mischief making going on.
Well done Jade if that is your only thing they can bring up.
On the other hand Tahan and Boog seemed to have no responsibility or accountability for their actions, they just brushed it off .

I completely agree with all of this. It was more the reaction of the posters who I think will want her to drop him and not look back.

What I want her to do, more than anything, is focus on this week for herself and then, after it's over, have that discussion. I think it IS the end of their relationship, because if Jade doesn't have him on a pedestal, I don't think she'll be willing to do all the hard work that a relationship with an emotionally stunted man takes. But at least the decision on that will be hers.

I do think her view of Ed has changed significantly though.
You can't just switch off liking someone but I believe she probably will try and keep her distance at least unless the prick grovels.

I swear Tim and Drew are in a competition to see who can be the most empathetic toward Jade. Now Tim's worried that he pushed her too far last night. It's fascinating to see them dancing around her like this. She really is the emotional center of the house.

I was so surprised at how strong she acted in front of the others despite having the worst 'trick'. This was an added burden to the fact that Ed had just left (who she previously thought was the closest person to her in the house). I was also surprised that she could see through the facade really quickly once she saw the facts and didn't try to brush it off as nothing. She understood the reality of the situation straight away and was so strong in her demeanour.

This is the Jade that I've missed from the earlier weeks! However like you, I'm also not happy with Tim and Drew pretending that they're good guys when they have said terrible things about her throughout the weeks and not only nominated her but kept insulting her on an ongoing basis. I love Tim and I agree that most of these actions have to do with his gameplay, but Drew? He has just been way over the top with how he has treated her. Either totally infatuated with her or totally hated her. But I think she understood because after all, she saw 'the jadeaconda', and how Drew said that every time she talks is intolerable to him. Plus how he gossiped constantly about her and blew things out of proportion.

She came out like the stronger person in the end though and I think maybe her father's message really helped her - he reinforced that she must stay strong :)

I do think her view of Ed has changed significantly though.

My gut feeling is he won't grovel. He'll just retreat and regroup and move on. Sadly, I don't think he'll ever realize or acknowledge what a great girl he lost, but that's all on him, not her.

Jade has led him every step of the way in the relationship. Note I don't say she forced him into it, or dragged him in kicking and screaming. Everything I've seen about him is that the boy is way up in his head, has little to no idea of how to actually develop a relationship on his own. I would willingly bet that every relationship he has had has been because the woman put in the time and effort to make it happen. That it took him 9 months to tell his GF he loved her says so much about how he handles such things. He needed Jade to set the example of how to be more open and vulnerable. Hopefully she has seen that she needs to make sure that the person she gives her love to is worthy of it.

To be perfectly honest I really couldn't care less why they're being nice to her. After all the crap she's been hit with in the past couple of days I'm just happy she has those two for whatever reason because things at the moment would be 10000000x worse for her if she was isolated without any support.

With this I completely agree. I just think it's funny watching the two boys constantly consulting with each other on how to handle Jade. I think Drew wins because he can actually put aside his competition with Ed to focus on Jade when he's with her, while Tim still has to get in little gloats.

They HAVE to wonder, though, how she stands in the competition. They know she beat out Ed, the last guy to do her wrong. They HAVE to be wondering if their treatment of her will have consequences.

While I'm about 99% certain the 34% save last time was Tim, but I would love if it was Jade, because, honestly, the girl is so much more than she thinks she is and it would be awesome if Australia could see that despite the editing.

I think the housemates are going to be shocked on Monday if she makes the final 3. They always thought she was weak and even at the last eviction where Drew got heaps of cheers and she didn't get any, they will be wondering what is going on. I really do think she has a chance to take it out.

I honestly think that they felt uncomfortable around jade because of ed. when he left they picked right up where it was left. That's as simple as it is for me. No hidden agendas, no false comforting, no sucking up. Ed was always coming up with conspiracy theories and the boys always knew this. Jade became one of eds cronies for them and therefore things changed, which is why so many fans also got turned off by jade. Ed left and it left room for jade to fix her relationship with the boys, and not even a few days and they are on good terms again. The jade that they knew came back to them and for fans it's a wonderful surprise to see this jade back. Just like she brings out the better in drew, ed brought out the worst in jade. That's how I see it anyways

I think it's a good thing to realise he's not 'mr perfect'.
That will give them a much better chance if she sees him as a flawed human being, just like the rest of the population.

Might make him actually appreciate what he has too..
I actually hope not - there's so much better out there for her!
