Jade is dyslexic....?

Amazing how one troll comment could spawn one of the most interesting threads I've seen on here in awhile. Funny how that works! Thanks though everyone. :)

Oh and yes I thought it was not only blatant favouritism to Ben but also quite cruel that they give the girl who was just talking the day before about her reading difficulties 83 f'n options to choose from. On white paper no less.

I'm a speech pathologist and you'd be surprised how many issues this actually causes aha.

other ones that occur to me: how long the word "abbreviation" is... and how "onomotopeia" sounds nothing like what it means.

back on topic, spot on that this is probably behind her lack of confidence from school days and undermines her general self-esteem to these days. it says something about her character that she places such importance on being well-rounded - not just happy to be pretty or popular.

Jade had a talk with Mikkayla and she said she was happy to help her, as Mikkayla is an English teacher.

I already liked Jade but finding this out when she spoke about it just opened my heart more to the girl. My son is Dyslexic and is also on the autism spectrum and that conversation really interested me. (Cant think of the damn name right now!!) But we used that see through colour paper stuff in a frame to test his colour. You can see the words through it and it also separates the words. Of course he is only in grade 1 but once we found out the reason he couldn't read basic sight words he just flew ahead and although he is behind he tries and is a pleasure to work with. ((PS he still cant do the silly sight words but he is reading books thanks to the fitzroy sounding readers software, worth looking into for any child, challenged or no thttp://www.fitzprog.com.au/ ))

Its am amazing little world to be apart of and its crazy some of the things that make total sense to him but yet to is still ot after 9 months of grade one. I have so much respect for that girl, she has worked do bloody hard to get to where she is and when it comes down to it she still came out the other end of a hard life as a caring and loving young lady. People are mean and its hard starting out behind, seriously if my son turns out as great of a person as she is I would be super proud.

Now we just need to save her from Ed. ;)

I've worked with dyslexic kids as an aide, and I really do feel for her. The frustration that people from suffer from dyslexia is just horrible.

My best friend all through school was dyslexic and she would wear pink sunglasses and use pink paper when reading. It broke my heart seeing people make fun of her but she's just finished a university degree so they obviously help her.

Wow... sounds exactly like me. I'm dyslexic, and my uni printed everything on pink paper for me (and yes I got my degree, and I'm working on a graduate qualification now). I will be getting tinted glasses soon, but not sure what colour they will be... they come in all different colours, and an Irlen specialist goes through a process with you to find the right colour.

Whichever has the most votes for ed she will shred *sigh* then if not mikkayla *sigh*

I wish those who have spiteful comments on her book-smart know that she is dyslexic.

Pretty sure she is just not smart. Mixing up i and e in a name does not signal dyslexia it just shows one does not remember very basic spelling jingles.

She's dyslexic. She told Justynn, and Mikkayla said they have to help her when doing to shopping so she has enough time to read the list.

I think you will find there is a little more to dyslexia than being a little slow when reading.

Has she a diagnosis of dyslexia or a forum diagnosis of dyslexia?

Certainly the later.

Jade is not the type of person who would ever say she had dyslexia on big brother.

People are using their jump to conclusions maps.

I think jade has aspergers and trichinosis.
