They are at work.
They are under contract to provide a service to the producers and are being paid for that service. They are working for the people making the tv show.

They are not at work - do they pay tax on the winnings? Nope. ATO made a ruling this is not work.
They are participating in a completion, they sign an agreement yep like most comps, and they agree to participate according to the rules.

People have made your point many times before, it's simply not true. And there's a prize of $250,000 as evidence

A brothel is also a work environment for some lol so if you are categorising big brother as a work environment, there are a lot of different types of professions and I would say this kind of behaviour probably goes on at maccas and kfc's all over Australia lol

I don't think Tahan is a bully as such but she is a disgusting example of a human being. I can't understand why she's some popular, if people look up to her as some kind of role model then that would explain why Australia is such a fucked up country.

Something needs to be done about tahan, it has gone past petty bitchiness and progressed to bullying we should not accept this especially on national television. When did bullying become entertainment ?
We are accepting cheating and doing nothing about it either. When did cheating become entertainment?

Just FYI cheating is emotional abuse just like bullying.

Very few people would say Tahan acted appropriately and they'd also say Mikkayla didn't either. As much as I adore Mikkayla she's not some innocent victim in their arguments and in fact she has a whole 'pack' to support her whereas Tahan has no one. The issue is when people throw around the word bullying when it doesn't apply to the situation. It's probably the most misused word in Australia today and it detracts from real cases of bullying.

I agree with this, to me bullying means constant putting down and making that persons life a living hell, they are the majority and the victim is the minority. And judging from the way the two act with eachother they are indeed friendly to eachother. I think it was frustration blown out of proportion..

it became acceptable when Australia voted the biggest, bitchiest bully as the WINNER of BB last year.

great job australia!

To be honest i didn't mind Ben winning last year, for one reason alone... he was the most interesting. Last years BB just felt full of try-hard's and desperado's this year HM's are more diverse and unique. Ben certainly was a bitch last year but at least he was giving people a reason to tune in. If it's a house of 100 people and 1 is a massive jerkface with the other 99 being generic, forgettable, nice guy "i'm here for the experience" types. I'm voting for the bully.

If i hassled a fat person at work it would be bullying

I don't think so. I mean considering you are the fat guy at work, I would suggest it would be more of an internal self loathing thing rather than bullying.

I do believe Tahan is just doing what she's doing because she is insecure. Tim said it well (when he was comforting Mikkayla), she hasn't made any real friendships or relationships in the house (she is clinging to Tully (bad idea) and Ed because she's got no one else, and you can tell because her relationships with Tully and Ed do not seem very strong or genuine).
In a nutshell, she's just jealous.

I can see people being narky, niggly, bitchy and occasionally nasty but I can't see harassment by power imbalance that's necessary for it to be true bullying. For the sake of people who've endured victimisation by actual bullying, I wish it wasn't a word so misused and so frequently thrown around because I feel it diminishes the impact of the word.

Problem with Tahan's bullying is that its only directed toward girls and most of the guys really like her. Wtf I don't get this whole bad girl attraction thing - she's so mean

kxk is correct. It's not a workplace by any definition of the term in Australia. The judicial system specifically ruled Big Brother wasn't a workplace for Housemates in 2005 and as such they do not get paid superannuation, qualify for worker's comp, etc. They are competitors who get paid a weekly stipend hoping to win a prize.
