Why don't people like Ben?

You have to admit, he's not just thinking out loud.

I sometime mutter to myself. Unless I am swearing at a motorist in my car, it's quite soft spoken. That's how I've always observed it in most people. What he's doing is narrating for the cameras.

I said it at the beginning of the series, you don't introduce a photo to yourself when you look at it. He's letting the camera's know what he's doing.

That's what I meant. I do exactly this. I talk, converse, argue etc with myself at a normal frequency all the time. Sometimes I feel I'm not 100% sane but I then I remember that I don't care. :)

Lol I do the exact same thing. Constantly talking to myself!

Using the photos of his mum and nana as if it was a phone, showing the photos around the room. Don't tell me that is not acting for the camera

Do you do this with cameras on you?

Well my house isn't rigged with cameras but if it was I'd probably forget and do it anyway. Sometimes I concertrate so hard on doing stuff that I don't even realise I've been talking out loud for 10 minutes non stop. I really should get out more lol

Does anyone know if he was the person in the paper with protesters when they were arrested. Google his name and you will find the article.

I don't get this, I see so many snarky comments about Ben....and why?
The talking to the photos thing is real creepy, but I don't think he's that bad, I enjoy watching his interactions and views on stuff.
My guess would be because he is gay and not a looker like Drew for example. Drew is a deceitful jerk and still everyone, at least women adore him.

I still adore him, between all the drama and bitching going on sometimes it's nice to have someone like Ben there, he's awkward but so funny

I talk to myself occasionally, but it might be a phrase like 'oh now where did I put that' versus a conversation or giving daily thoughts and updates to people in photos. I don't know what I think of Ben exactly. Find him funny one moment, find him irritating the next.

I don't like him.

I 100% dislike his personality. He needs to start behaving like a grown man in the right ways. I don't think it's cute at this stage of the game.

Also, his attempt to get Drew to kiss him on the lips was fucking creepy. I felt bad for Drew when Ben and Tully were both coercing him into doing it as if he owes Ben some wet-dream fantasy come true. Drew's such a passive guy too, thought he'd actually do it. Shuddering at the thought of anyone having to kiss Ben.

So, it's not okay to just not like Ben - there must be some reason that shows you are either shallow or homophobic - but it is perfectly reasonable for Ben to not like dogs and treat Mr Clooney with rough aggression??

Is this referring to me? I don't think I said any of those things...
Rough aggression, I think you're being a tiny bit dramatic don't you think? Watch the video again.

For those that missed it, here's the violent flinging of Mr Clooney

Not everyone likes dogs, just as there are people out there who don't like cats, or children or birds (good lord, birds scare me!).
But saying his dislike of Mr Clooney has been "rough aggression" is not accurate. BB would dump him out of the house faster than speed of sound if he did anything to hurt any animal.

Regarding Ben and this being his first experience with a dog (Mr Clooney, just to clarify) ... I grew up as a cat person, and thought of dogs as just animals that poo everywhere and jump n slobber all over you etc etc ... it wasnt until my early teens that we got a puppydawg which melted my heart and changed every perceived misconception I had about them. Keep in mind Ben has never had a dog before... (actually I'm not sure if he's even had any pet?)

There's a few things about Ben that frustrate me but I've also enjoyed seeing him challenge himself with things in the house by doing so many different things he's never done before, and being able to experience what it's like to have a dog for the first time will no doubt only be a positive thing for him. I wish Mik would help educate him a bit more in that regard though, because a lot of humans also need to be taught how to handle animals, and Ben is certainly in that fold

I'm like you fivecougars. I grew up with cats, and didn't really like dogs until I lived with my most recent housemate. She has a Lhasa apso and a cocker spaniel/Labrador who are the most beautiful-natured, well-behaved, well-trained, friendly, totally lovable dogs I've met. Over the 3 years I lived with them, I discovered I was indeed a dog person who hadn't met the right kind of dogs :-)
