Why don't people like Ben?

So people who are emotional forfeit all rights to then have emotions.....

That's a big leap.

I would say people who cry constantly can't expect people to constantly be responsive to it with sympathy and care. That would make other people slaves to their emotional outbursts. Heard of the boy who cried wolf?

In a way yes - it's the old boy who cried wolf story all over again. People get sick of it & when she evinces the same type of response for minor things as major things, it becomes hard to feel sympathy for her.
p.s. I can't stand Ben, but I don't think he did anything wrong in this situation.

Hey ... Boy who cried wolf ....SNAP

Yeah, I agree. I thought it was a bit strange that he just stood there talking about himself being nominated when that was completely irrelevant to what Tully was crying about. He should have said that he'll give them some privacy, and then left.

Thank god there's another sane person in this thread again!

To use Ben 2012's language. Ben 2013 was being such a meeper.

Yeah but the point is, it was a personal emotional moment between her and someone else that Ben interrupted.

Ben knows that incident would be shown to the public so wanted to get his place in the scene.

We've seen plenty of clips of him complaining people aren't paying attention to him. He's very self focused.

He wants attention. I think it's a case of, he walks past there's people. Wants the focus of them onto him.

The same way he doesn't go up to people when he can and then complains. I think he goes up to people when he shouldn't and doesn't understand.

He is funny, and I don't just mean unintentionally. I've just never really been able to believe that anybody talks to themself the way he does.

I talk to myself all of the time. It comes from being alone a lot.

It's a tactic to make yourself seem more child like and vulnerable. Pretending you have no inner monologue and your thoughts are sweet and innocent.

It's to disguise what you're really thinking and try and fool people. Often those that try to be the most honest, to show they are wonderful have the most negative stuff going on in side.

I love Ben - have from the moment he first spoke on the first night. I've often wondered at his social awkwardness, and put it down to either being very shy (which I am - and can relate) or to having mild apsergers (which my daughter does, and shows similar traits).

Regardless of why he is how he is, I feel that Ben's journey in the BB house has been wonderful to watch, and I can't wait to see more.

See I don't think he's shy at all. He's quite confident and a natural performer.

I do think there may be some sort of aspergers situation going on. I don't know enough on it to comment though and it's never good to try and diagnose such things in others.

I think he's just preoccupied with himself a bit too much. It's some strange form of narcissism. A lot of this is where his awkwardness comes from. He's seeing the world from his Ben focused point of view. Which is also why he's so sheltered. He's living in a little Ben centered world.

I agree he had some funny moments, but then he overacted for the camera. If he was more natural in his acting I would like him more, sometimes he just makes me cringe. Specially the thinking aloud, no one does that, that is over acting

I think aloud all the time. I'm doing it at home right now. Just because you've never seen something before doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

You have to admit, he's not just thinking out loud.

I sometime mutter to myself. Unless I am swearing at a motorist in my car, it's quite soft spoken. That's how I've always observed it in most people. What he's doing is narrating for the cameras.

I said it at the beginning of the series, you don't introduce a photo to yourself when you look at it. He's letting the camera's know what he's doing.

Yeah definitely. It's more of a narration than just thinking aloud.

Totally agree!!

You do? I know old people does it, but I have never seen a younger person doing it
