Ratings Thread 2013

This!

There is not a single other reality show in the entire country, past or present, that will ever have the same cult fan following that Big Brother does. Good or bad, the fans are there and always will be.

Just sayin'.

Well maybe it's time you stopped your constant pissing and moaning about it.

Just sayin'.

Lol! I get that people are passionate. This is the ratings thread, so what frustrates me is when FANS use GOOD ratings to put the show down. Fair enough we are all entitled to opinions but don't use ratings ignorance as an excuse

I love the show. I love everything about it, but I must say it irritates me no end when you get the gaggle of moaners who come into this forum and just tear it to pieces. Comments like "that's it, I am NOT even watching" "it will be the last season..."and so on make me want to say "well pick up the remote, switch over and fuck off! It's that easy!!!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Ha!

My comment was not intended to be bad in any way? I was stating how much more significant the BB fans are in general as opposed to all other reality shows?

Yes well those kinds of comments are simple attention-grabbing techniques.

I agree with you on the cult status of BB fans. The difficulty for Alex and the team would be is that even we can't agree. You can't please everyone.

The wall is a classic example. Half this forum want it to stay up and half wanted it to come down. Who SHOULD they have listened to on this matter?

And all that being said, its doing (ratings wise) what Nine would want from it, mostly...

I think I like you, very much!

(not in an totally awkies Jade and Ed kind of way, more in a semi awkies Ben and Nanny's picture kind of way...).

I have never seen the point of doing anything, just to hate on it. To me it is like taking a mouthful of food, thinking to yourself that it tastes like shit, then going on to fill your plate for seconds. Sense no make.

Lol! Great analogy!

I don't care enough to keep track of people who do it,
but I'm glad people agree with me on some level :)

to stay on topic, I'll be updating the graphs tomorrow night/early Monday morning.

Showdown was 569k, #8 for total people
#4 for 25-54 and 18-49 but #1 for 16-39

i can't see how nine would not be extremely dissappointed by the result- less than a million every night and being slaughtered by x factor when they air at the same time.

Because it's still extremely competitive in the 7PM slot and in demographics- where it counts. And Mikidiki, it's a Saturday night- 560,000 is great for the slot. Much better than last week and up on what Nine would generally get in it.

So it is! But I still agree partly with what buck1106 says. Demographics aside, The X Factor is killing it, Big Brother isn't when it comes to just the rating figures.

There are probably many more 55+ watching X Factor than Big Brother, which would account for its much larger total viewer numbers.

X-Factor outrated BB last year too. Avg viewers for X Factor last year was 1.6mil.

Any Australian media website/ entity will tell you how little 'just the rating figures' matter. It's been said time and time again, these days, total people ratings are good for one thing only- adding the possibility of a show looking good in a press release. Where a show's performance counts, i.e., how a show can become profitable on a network, is in the demographics. There aren't a lot of over 55's who watch Big Brother- but there are a lot of 55s watching The X Factor. In terms of 'over 55s', networks tend to market their shows to this demographic the least. The most advertising dollars can be made targeting the three major 'under 55s' demographics and that's what Big Brother is doing and it's doing it well.

Though, it is easier to report total ratings news as that is what the general public have the most access to. With that being said, Week 2 of Big Brother averaged 820,000 officially. It should be noted that week 3 averaged that unofficially, so we should see a much higher figure this time next week!

:clapping: -Great post!

The X Factor already slaughtered Big Brother in the ratings last year, that's not new. It was consistently about 1.5 million to about 1 million I seem to recall. I'm not sure the X Factor is doing significantly better this year (I only glanced at a few nights), it's just that BB is doing worse.
