Ratings Thread 2013

I'm calling it... This will be the last season again.
Either it will not return, or it will be on an even cheaper budget next year :(

I think so too. 1 million for the second episode... that's just sad.

This family friendly format isn't working.

I hope it's cancelled so Ten can come along and bring it back. :D

We won't know until at least a couple of weeks when we see how this series is going to pan out. X factor has a broader demographic and was always going to rate more. Last year BB had a few weeks to build before coming up against x factor.

7 know they can do damage and have even rescheduled it against the revival of Australia's got talent! BB is still competitive in the advertiser demo's and will be interesting to see what the final timeshifted ratings will be.

Number 1 in 16-39 market
Number 2 in both the 18-49 and 25-54

Hardly a flop at all.

Remember last year that the bigger hype was due to the revival and people were curious. The people who have been watching are the Big Brother fans. Last year it settled on around a million which it was they will be aiming for this year. The thing that is letting them down is the fact that the episodes are way too long. When you have an hour and a half episode, 1.4 million aren't going to watch the full length. Plus, keep in mind that channel nine focus more on the demos primarily not the ratings.

Very true, channel nine does focus on demos

guys your talking like big brother has been on for a few weeks give it time channel 9 knew this before it even started they will have a trick up there sleeve

They need to do what Ten did and have half hour or one hours how's at most. Wonder how Saturday Showdown will rate. Will be interesting to see.

Still above the mil. Phew. It should do better tonight without X Factor. Although, Thursday's are notoriously low rating nights.

AND its going up against Home & Away (65mins) and Please Marry My Boy.. should be an easy win?

Late to the party this year but great to see a ratings thread. As someone who follows ratings closely, I can assure you that these numbers for BB are excellent. What I don't think many understand is that Big Brother has so far been on for 2 hours (1.3million), 90 mins (1.03m) and 90 mins (1.03m) - if it was on for 30 mins (like Home and Away) it would be a 1.5m show. If it was on for 60 mins (like The Block) it would be a 1.25m show.
Big Brother is so valuable to Nine (and actually any network) because there is no other format that can deliver so much content on a daily basis that holds 1 million eyeballs for the same length as a movie.
If it sticks anywhere above 900k on Mon, Tues and Weds it will be back next year and will be doing its job.
Predictions for next 2 nights:
BB Thurs: 940k
BB Fri: 720k

I agree with you but it is simply too early to tell. If it drops to less than 1m as the series progresses which is a possibility than the chance of it remaining on nine would be quite low.

And remember Nine love the demos.

Night three came first in 16-39 again
Second in 18-49 and second in 25-54.

I doubt nine expect it to beat X Factor on those two demos, so I'd say they would be still very happy with BB coming out of the gates this year

I agree completely! And they are doing fantastic in the demos as well. That is nines primary focus not ratings. BB has been solid in demos for the past couple of nights.
