Does anyone go on big brother soley to win $$$$

If I were to get on BBCA I'd use the experience to launch my own event company... I'm also in the process of trying to learn to DJ, so I'd use my notoriety to get myself a few gigs...

I can certainly see using exposure as a good career opportunity, especially if you already experienced, to push it to a new level, and you are right, if you had a plan before hand you could quite cleverly use it to your advantage for sure.

Yeah I agree - I bet our first two new housemates have plans in motion!

If Big Brother today was what it was between 2001-2007, I can absolutely without hesitation say that I'd have gone on the show solely for the experience and the experience alone. I mean that.

I guess, even now to an extent I wouldn't be going in for the money, but the show and its concept has slightly changed since the start so my view of it a little bit different now.

This might sound unusual to some but I am really fascinated about the experience of Big Brother itself. Honestly, it's something I would love to do (not that I'd ever get in anyway). Forget the cameras, forget the so-called "fame", the money, I'm not interested in any of that. I can safely say that I would absolutely love to just take the "journey" as it comes (so to speak) and I'd really appreciate going through that alone. To live under that kind of isolated control for so long with a bunch of people is just something that is never ever going to happen to you again (...unless you go to jail, of-course :p), but to just get away from the issues and "reality" of the outside world and just live all that out would be really amazing.

The money in this particular situation would be the last thing on my mind, really.

I dunno, that's just me.

i know the 3rd new housemate claims she is going in 'for my children' and that the money will help her family. It got me thinking about whether anyone would solely go into the show for the cash prize!

Would you be that sure that you would win?
Well obviously if she wins the money it will benefit her children so her 'claim' is fair enough. Do you think she is going turn into a druggie or a gambler and blow all the money on herself.

Everyone who goes on the show wants either money or fame or both.

Just as an example my friend Steven Daigle went on to do gay porn after he appeared on the 10th season of BBUS...
I just searched through his Twitter... and the photos on there... and um... wow... I'm off to... uh... bed now... :)

.

In this case she is a mother of three who is kinda trapped at home and probably would love to escape for a bit and rediscover herself - ALA Reggie!

I believe that their is nothing wrong with that BUT society makes mothers feel guilty if they are honest and say that they want time to themselves.

Not true - Peter 2002 said he was going on for the money for him and his siblings, and as we all know he went on to win.

TRUE ! I forgot about him - He was series one???

I think noone in Australia had any idea of the concept of the show back then and would have simply thought of it as a game show.

Hmmm... I'm half and half on this issue... Part of me would just like to say I lived the experience... Especially since aside from maybe working on the show it's something I've wanted to do as long as I've been a fan... The other part of me wouldn't mind some of the money and notoriety that comes along with it... I mean when I was promoting events and the likes it was hilarious cause people knew who I was but I had no idea who they were, I didn't wait in line, and I got to do lots of super cool things that a lot of others didn't... I just think having been on BB could spice up my life a little and I'm going to milk the BB experience for all it's worth both inside and outside the house...

Yes society does and so do you, in the Sharon housemate thread you said

Yeah leaving your very young kids for a few months surely would cause more harm than good!

Reggie did not have any children when she was in the house so there is a huge difference.

I think he was series 2. Agreed that the first season was very innocent (large part of its charm), season 2 was full of famewhore-wannabes (hello Shannon, Sarah, JESS especially) and a few money hungry types (Peter, but for good, honest reasons). They had seen the successor the show and the opportunities it offered to some of those from season 1.

Jemma had seen the UK version and went in very "brand" aware, she was quite smart about it in some ways, just wished she had of not talked about it so much.

Ok - I kinda did say that BUT that was in the context of her saying she "was doing it for the kids".

If she was really trying to do what was 'best' for her kids it would be providing a stable environment by being with them.It would be showering them with love and attention. I was just saying that I wished she said "I'm doing this for me". I believe that any life experience makes us a better person and gives us a different view on life. Hence when Reggie went on the show she said she was doing it for herself. I have no doubt when she gets out she will be a better person for the experience.

I honestly don't mean to be rude or judgmental- just like to call a spade a spade

Like being on the cover of FHM - Lol!

I'd absolutely be doing it for the money! You'd have to be getting SOMETHING to make it worthwhile.... with everyone dredging up your past, judging you on your looks, the hate for no reason, the absolute disgusting comments on FB etc.

You are making no sense at all, on one hand you are saying that by being part of Big Brother she is not being a good mother and in the same paragraph you are saying any life experience makes us a better person.:confused::confused:

So you are saying that any parent who is away from their child for a couple of months is not providing a stable environment? What about the mum's and dad's who work away for weeks at a time in the mines, are they bad parents. Children are very adaptable, of course they are sad if their parents are away for an extended period but as long as their is a stable significant person caring for them they will be fine.

I am not exactly sure who you are calling a spade.

In the past there have been dads on the show and no one EVER judges their parenting skills.
