Wow, thanks Topaz, I actually live in Woolloomooloo and had no idea about this new concept Woolies! I might go and investigate it later on today and see what it's like. There is a Coles and big Woolworths supermarket near me as well. All within walking distance so I don't have to worry about parking (which is a at a premium this close to the city.) Luckily we have a residential car park. :D

...I said exactly the same thing to my dear wife this morning... that could backfire on them... I realise that it is their way of combating people that abuse parking privileges in their car parks but as el'coopo says... what is stopping them telling their check out people to take it nice and slow so that people do go past the one hour limit?... it could become a better money earner than actually selling their groceries... that's my opinion anyway... cheers.
 
I am a label reader and a price comparer. A major shop can take me an hour, easy.

I guess anyone who parks there for 3+Hrs might as well stay the night... ;) wonder if breakfast is included.

Woolworths has now slashed it rates and will give shoppers their first 90 minutes free, charge $25 for parking up to two hours, $60 for two to three hours and $90 for more than three hours.

The sign with the original prices at the carpark entrance was taken down this morning.

parking in a shopping center CP is still free in WA...

I wonder for how much longer though...?
 
There's only 25 parking bays. I'm gonna take a wild guess & figure that most people won't drive to shop there. As it's in the city, it'll probably be more office workers passing through after work or lunchtimes or inner city folk etc. I'd say it's more to stop people using it as an all day car park so they can have a non car park paying day out in the city.

I think that's the point though. It was supposed to make them want to park elsewhere. As usual it's been blown out of proportion & everyone has gone ermahgerd instead of thinking about why it was implemented. It seems to me that people enjoy being outraged. I'm not really sure they care about exactly what they are outraged about either.

Re: April, it wasn't until well into the evening I realised that if you had got lost or something, you had no way of getting in contact anyway, which, as The Host, was somewhat remiss of me. I was more worried about that than anything else, especially when (if memory serves me better than it does our Tralalad) you didn't pop up in the forums for days either.

Anyhoo, since the moment you did pop up again it has and still is a case of "no worries". Eastern Staters may well be inclined to get uptight about such things but hey, we're from Pert / The West and are nothing like Them, eh ? :)

Deem "Life is wot happens while we are busy making other plans", included.

That said, hubby didn't fall off his scooter AGAIN did he ? :D

No it isn't. Genuine regular shoppers are no doubt going to be very happy with how it keeps the turnover of available parking spots going and how they can be more or less guarenteed a spot within minutes to do their quicky shopping.

Besides, tis also a case of

"woolworth's land, woolworth's choice"

If you want a long term cheapish parking spot in Sydney, go join a bowling club or something !

At the probable risk of incurring Tralatrollop's wrath, thankyou for that response Bernie.

Na, the Moonhubby didn't fall off Rhonda this time! The whole day was one eff-up after another!

It culminated in notice of severe health probs with one family member, which wasn't the actual reason either!

We didn't get a sitter for the Moonbaby in the end, which wouldn't have stopped us either!

Moonhubby didn't get home until 3.30.....which didn't stop us.

Rain was forecast, which wasn't a single reason.

Family calling in at 2.30 and staying until 4pm was an eff up for us as well.

We had our tent, blankets, piss, a massive fillet of barra, and all the other fun stuff ready to go.

At the end of the day (which felt like 2 days) we were not ready to leave until about 7pm & the phone was still going with family hassles!

We were tired out by then and really needed to sort out a heap of family stuff.

We both felt bad, but had no way of contacting you & LSCP.

Meanwhile, I started being attacked by some effed up mole and decided to just lurk for a while!

That's the short story!
