I saw an ad for a new movie called 'orphan' tonight, and it looks spooky as all buggery!
Okay. I have a confession. Forgive me father for I have sinned.
I went and saw GI Joe.
And a fair chunk of it I really enjoyed, actually. The trashing of Paris in the middle is totally implausible (yeah like the rest of the movie is a documentary) but... fun.
But of course the acting and the plot the dialogue and the stupid clichéd relationships are ghastly bad. Probably because the back-story was created by an advertising exec for a kids cartoon designed to sell toys.
And the end is classic over the top "Throw a huge CGI budget at the screen", overkill, which might have been more exciting if you cared about the terrible characters. Think the climax of "Return of the Jedi", but under water, and no Ewoks.

I really want to see The Orphan.....That looks cool
Not his finest moment. He's the main bad guy.Isn't Christopher Eccleston in this?
Beautiful Kate the film on the other hand is utterly depressing. Rachel Ward and Bryan Brown may lead such charmed lives they can afford to wallow in such bleakness, but not me. Technically the film is sound, but what does that matter when you leave the theatre suicidal?
I don't recommend this film at all. Not even to those who might like to admire the beauty of Sophie Lowe.
I really want to see this but I don't like bleak.... don't do bleak..but I don't mind seeing a bit of miseryand I love Aussie movies, I can't get enough of them. Your post has made me even more curious but I'm worried now it's depressive

Anyone seen District 9 or the Orphan? Thinking of one of those tonight.
Tonight I'm watching a movie called Der Untergang which is about the downfall of Hitler. Apparently it's amazing and really depressing. Should be a fun filled night.
Would you expect most Kubrick fans to like The Devil Wears Prada though?
