Star Trek and 17 Again.
Just got back from seeing Terminator Salvation again, this time with LSCP. Cheers ACE Cinemas in Midland once again. I just love going to that place.
A side note is that Sam Worthington was a year ahead of LSCP at the same performing arts high school (John Curtin). He was in Theatre Arts (won a scholarship), and she in Dance (scholarship course, but paid). She's going to dig out her year books tomorrow and if she finds them I'll scan in pic.
But anyhoo, the 2nd time around for me his Oz accent more noticable but that's ok. Even with the lack of lines I reckon he provided the strongest performance for the movie - but then again, it was more about him (and his salvation) than Connor anyway, and Connor has always been an unlikable shit that we basically just tolerated. Hmmm, ok, perhaps not so bad in T3.
More of an effort to not drive a bus through various plot holes 2nd time around and I also realised this time around that there should have been a certain thing added to the ending. See spoiler below for that.

BTW, Serena is the name of a vital character in the books that were written after T2 (and were somewhat ruined by the failure of T3 to follow the timeline etc they created).
The wiki on it says: "Serena Burns is an I-950 Infiltrator, in the T2: Infiltrator series of books, deployed in 2029 with the mission of locating and infiltrating John Connor's Resistance. The name of the character Serena Kogen in the movie Terminator Salvation is presumed to be a nod to this character. "

As the helicopters flew away with John Conner (now using the heart of Mark Us Right), a grave should have come into view. A grave for Marcus. The difference between man and machine being humans bury their dead, and all that. Hmmmm.
oh, and ...
how much CGI did they have to use to de-age the Governator for his cameo ? Heh. Also, I wonder if that was him in a blue-suit (ready for CGI overlay) doing the final fight scenes. A lot of the mannarisms and poses seems very Arnie-ish.

On Friday afternoon we went and say Wolverine. I have to admit I didn't really want to see it, I was quite a fan of the X-Men comics when I was younger and was horrified by the other films.
But... I guess it wasn't too bad. In the scheme of things. If you checked any knowledge you have of the comics at the door on the way in lol.
So I won't comment on the plot, there were just too many silly differences for me to enjoy it.
I'll stick to the things I did like.
Deadpool (even though I'm not even sure they called him that in this film now that I think about it, he was Weapon Eleven or some such) looked great, the only thing I've liked about the X-Men films in the costuming/character design.
And to my suprise I didn't hate Gambit. Gambit was always my fav X-Men character (to the point I had several posters on my wall when I was a kid lol) and they guy who played him did pretty well. My only complaints would be that I would have liked more card action, and why did he not had a Cajun accent?

Why is he boring?
I'd love a movie about Rogue and Gambit and have him with those magical playing cards. Gambit was cool in the cartoon series. And don't knock it the X Men animated series is pretty good.

McKellen isn't a sissy! His Magneto is awesome. I can't say I've ever seen a single second of his Magneto not being awesome. Very intimidating.
Even X2? I think X2 is an amazing movie and I wish Bryan Singer had stuck around for the third one. He knew how to make a good X-Men movie and what he had planned for X-Men 3 sounded really interesting. It was going to focus on Jean/Phoenix and take the actual comic book route of it being an entity which took over her (which is why you see the phoenix in the lake in X2). He was also going to have Emma Frost, played by Sigourney Weaver, as a secondary villain with some sort of link between her and Professor X.
Study this picture carefully, and maybe you will comprehend why Wolverine doesn't float my boat.

Went to see Samson and Delilah.
It's deserving of all the accolades - shocking, bleak, but also hopeful. Don't think I've ever seen a film with so little dialogue in it yet which says so much. And beautifully filmed too.
Easily 10/10.

Well for the bodies, maybe Marcus had his body on one of the helicopters. Anyways He wont be dead. Either they'll find some way to bring him back, or there's another one of him. When he's in the skynet tower the shot of him before he comes to save conner from the t800 He comes across himself. Well I think he does. The last show he comes across a body lying on a table, and he's not in the other experimenting area. So my guess is he's a clone. Hence why he hasn't aged, and if you make one, why not make another. So the next film will have that option to show him in the tower find another version of himself, which is the one that dies. The strong heart was also part of their manipulation.
For the t-800, what they did was they used a body double which was Roland Kickinger. He was going to just be the t-800 if they couldn't get arnie face right. He has played arnie in a movie of his life and there's a slight similarity. Arnies face was dependant on a couple things. They wanted it to be seamless and was only meant for a few shots. So it was all dependant on getting it looking real, which apparently was really hard.
Arnie wasn't involved besides signing off if they could use his likeness if they could get the effect to work. The face was scanned from an original plaster cast of his face made for the first terminator film, then textured using stills from the first terminator film.
Pretty clever and pretty cool they still had that caste of his face from back then.

But rather then Volverine a movie about Gambit and Rogue together would be cook cause in the animated series they often worked together...
I hope they do other "evolution" movies on the other X Men.
Actually a Mystique movie could be very cool. I mean like when she first dicovered her powers and all.

A 2003 Richard Donner film based off a Michael Crichton novel staring Billy Connolly, Paul Walker, Gerard Butler,Frances O'Connor and the always lovely Anna Friel.
So yeah a lot going for it. A quick summary "A group of archaeological students become trapped in the past when they go there to retrieve their professor. The group must survive in 14th century France long enough to be rescued."
So it's a big sci-fi time travel film. It was quite good. Not great, it had something missing to elevate it to a higher level but it was a quite competant well made action adventure film with a good concept. With such a silly sounding summary, nothing came across really as dumb or bad. Was consistently entertaining, likeable characters and a bit different than your average action film. Although it did suffer from the syndrome of, no one seems really shocked or amazed to have travel in time.
It'd recommend for a popcorn entertainment film. Nothing to sit and think about but it was interesting and quite entertaining,

I can't imagine how they would do a Mystique movie...
She's a very interesting character. She's Nightcrawlers mother (his father is Sabretooth - Victor Creed) and she adopted and raised Rogue, and she eventually joins the X-Men.
I have no idea how they would work any of that in with what they did in the movies.

This is one of those films you have to watch while drinking with friends. It's just bad funny teen comedy stuff. Set in a high school where everyones over sexed, way older than actual teenagers. It was overly funny, but it was good light entertainment to watch while getting pissed with friends. Doesn't get too cliched or into the gross out humour a lot of these things tend to fall into, but that worked in its favour.

You are very generous. I'm a huge fan of the book and the film was nothing like the book, was way too short and I thought a pile of crap. Chrighton's take on Time Travel was not even used or discussed. In the book there is no time travel. What happens is that you land in a parrallel universe of sorts that resembles your "past" thus when they find the spectacles at the dig site they came from another scientist who was there in the "past" but not their own fellow scientist. But ooh time travel makes my head hurt.
