Why don't people like Ben?

I believe Ben has reached his peak in what he has to offer. He doesn't really appear to be driven to win and seems complacent in just cruising along. It doesn't really make good television so I'm betting within a few weeks his fan base will drop big time.
 
There are times when I legitimately question if he is putting on this massive act.
Like on the late night feast, when he kept on knocking over things and falling down, whilst trying to dance. It was like something out of a Benny Hill sketch.

I know! I was watching that and thinking "hmmm." Also the whole "I'm so sorry!" thing after. Plus he did an OK dance by himself in the diary room.

Either way he's a good actor though because he plays the 'straight' pretty good too.

I don't think he's a mastermind actor. But there's more to him than the front he's putting up.

As for that front - I think he's attempting to be all endearing etc. But he just comes across as hopeless.

Sure about that? He's neck and neck with Tim on the voting results, if he is indeed putting on an 'act' it is working to a reasonable extent you have to admit. Not that I care mind you, I have nothing vested in him winning as long as he at last outlast housemates of the ilk of matt and ed I'm okay with him being evicted.

I'm just curious as to what the is difference between Ben13 and that effeminate zac or something that came second against aleisha in '07 I think. As far as I can tell both Ben 13 and zac are inoffensive 'dull' characters but I could not stand zac whatsoever.

He was the precise definition of a dullard but because of his effeminate nature and the fact he worked in some kind of fashion thing, he had some appeal and endearing qualities to lots of hetero women that saw him as some cute little puppy that needed to be patted and cared for. The guy just made me wanna puke everytime he came on screen, so maybe I can relate to what some here feel against Ben13.
 
The thing that annoys me is people whining that Ben wouldn't be good for the fake eviction and yet Mikkayla would? Just no.
I'm still enjoying him on screen and glad that he is loved on the outside.

He comes across hopeless to me anyway. I just don't find him endearing or cute etc. I think it's a shame he's so popular when Tim actually contributes to the house whereas Ben just sits back and does nothing.

I can't comment on the rest because i didn't watch all of last years show and didn't pay much attention to '07.
 
Ben was interesting initially, but now he bores me a lot. The way he acts like a baby annoys me too, though sometimes it's sort of sad. He must be emotionally underdeveloped if that's all real.

I do enjoy how much he reacts to Drew, Ed, and Matt.

If I were one of the housemates I'd most definitely not enjoy living with Ben. But since I'm not, I'm just a tv viewer watching from afar I get some twisted pleasure from watching how uncomfortable Ben makes Kay, Tim etc... and how they deal with him. :cool:

Beats anything matt, caleb and co have served thus far that's for sure.

Completely true. I'd rather Ben in than Matt, Caleb or Ed for sure. He just irks me though. There's something else in conjunction with the hopeless act I see that I can't put my finger on.

I also don't think he provides enough to be loved as much as he is. He seems very background to me lately.
 
I don't believe that Ben has never kicked a football and doesn't know how to cook and is so clumsy that he unintentionally falls down like 5 times in a 2 minute dance. I wouldn't go so far as to say that he's a compulsive liar, but I think he's very good at playing the character that he wants to be perceived as and he's gotten so used to it that lying just comes naturally to him (when necessary).

Same here! I just don't get it. He is such a lovely person. I would LOVE to have him as a friend. He is such a sweetheart. Not to mention - smart, creative, fun, interesting, unique, honest, trustworthy, etc. I want him to win!
 
He is funny, and I don't just mean unintentionally. I've just never really been able to believe that anybody talks to themself the way he does.
 
He's gonna crack soon ..... Cabin fever makes the HM's do crazy sh*t.

- Gay-David's tanty.
- Zoe's obsession with Mick.
- Mick hooking up with Estelle.
- Insider-Michael and his Reuben story.
- Belinda's "true confession"
- Turkey-gate.

It could be a spectacular shock when it happens.

Just because you encounter a personality you haven't seen before doesnt mean they're a compulsive liar, what a paranoid post.

I don't think his whole personality is fake but I think he exaggerates the aspects of his personality that get him good responses and attention.

It's not necessarily a bad thing - I don't dislike Ben - but sometimes it annoys me when he acts like he can't do anything. He wants to be treated like a child, but in my opinion, he's too old and too intelligent for it to be fair for him to expect people to treat him that way (although people still do it). The other HMs talk down to him like he's a child and it's a bit cringe-worthy in my opinion.
 
I don't dislike Ben. I just wish he wouldn't walk around the house in his pajamas. It's a little thing but it really makes me cringe. How can you not be bothered to put some clothes on?

That's all I have. Other than that he's okay in my book, since we've stopped having to watch him yabber on to his photos.
