Why do you all like Tim so much?

I like Tim because I watch the show for entertainment and he has entertained me the most. Simple as that really. I have always considered Tim a great strategic player but it has taken me this long to realise that he is actually, legitimately the best player of all time up there with Paul2004 and Tim2005.

He's an entertainer, he's an activist. He's creative, compassionate, playful, insightful, lateral, intelligent, sensitive, seeringly accurate in reading people and their behaviour, he has gigawatts of earnest enthusiasm and mischief, and if a friend is suffering he can be surprisingly tender in comforting them. He's always operating on multiple levels , and they're all pretty interesting (to me anyway), and he's a right larrikin.

He's also keeping his side of the bargain with us and gives us something to vote about in every round of the BBAU game.

I like Tim because he is showing himself, warts & all.

Yes he can be a prick & he can be nice etc, that's his personality.

He said from the start that he was playing the game, not the shit some HM's have said I am here for the experience.

Tim has let the viewers be part of BB by telling us what he will do next & sometimes it feels like I am in the house with him.

The problem with Tim is, his 'showing himself warts and all' is a bit contrived. Also unlike say a housemate like Tahan, Tim is calculating in being a bad person at times. He makes an active choice to do the wrong, or the mean or the selfish thing.

Yes he is funny, yes he is entertaining. But, he is unbelievably selfish and self absorbed, and cant seem to get along with anyone longer than a few weeks.

I give the man credit for his intelligence and ability to manipulate situations and turn them around to make himself look good. But what I don't understand is the way people seem to be fooled by him and unaware of his tricks.

Yesterdays episode was a perfect example. He did something wrong them ran to the diary room for damage control and to try and talk his way out of the mess and make himself look good again. But he wasn't as sharp as he usually is so his attempt at manipulation was more obvious. He does this all the time though, I have seen it again and again.

Every single person in the house is now aware of his tricks, even his former friends eg Boogs, Drew, Mikkayla, even Tahan has said recently that she doesn't trust him. But everyone out here still thinks he is just a simple fun loving guy who is just trying to have a good time. I really don't understand it. Don't his actions speak louder than his words?

Some people are just easy to manipulate. Especially women. I will give Tim credit. He is a pretty good manipulator. However any smart person can see through him.

Yes! :D

Tim should win because he has carried this season. And has been witty and genuinely funny and not afraid to own the fact that he wants to win. He's rocked the boat, he's been honest (I think) and maybe best of all, his dad even wore a skeleton onesie.

Anyone else winning would be a travesty - ignore my icon LOL.

Can you imagine BB this year without Tim?

We would be looking at Jade and Ed and their loving / loveless relationship..... errr no thank you!
Drew and Tully happy and sad moments with lots of pissed off moments from Tully...... NO!!!
The "misfit group" bitching about the "cool group"..... enough already!!!
Mikkayla talking down to HMs.... entertaining NOT!

Give us a break!

At least Tim was able to get HMs to open up, he played a few jokes to make it interesting, stirrer, his openness with his ideas and feelings..... just your average guy who enjoys life and hasn't gone under the radar.

Nobody is saying that Tim is a bad housemate or a bad person on average. But he is definitely a prick sometimes and loves to target those who he thinks won't have the backbone to stand up to him. Well he's messed with the wrong munchkin in Boogs and does't like it one bit when some of the crap he dishes out is returned with interest which is all what Boogs has done. I don't know about you but that's one of the character traits I least respect in people.

I love the energy that Tim puts into his environment. I'm taking that as a lesson from him. By that I mean his taking on things like growing an herb garden, planting peas, watering the plants, interacting with the birds and the possum. Plus he has been cooking and baking a lot. I've never seen a housemate have that in their personality. He creates his environment. Also, he invents a million games. Tim would be fun to have around

I think he is a nurturing person.

That is why I love Tim.

I forgot about Boogs, the one thing that Boogs went toooooo far with.... peeing on the peas!

Boogs is on the verge of bullying in my opinion. She includes others in her shit stirring and has a laugh about it afterwards which reminds me of school yard bullies. Her calling tim a backstabber infront of everyone was putting tim on show and inviting others to form an opinion on tim at that moment. Funny because boogs is the hypocrite THEY ARE ALL BACKSTABBERS. I hope tim wins. The rest are boring and fake.

He's creative - a program maker - writer/director/performer - the whole package.

He saved the show so much effort every day thinking of new constructs. Everyone else just reacts to show constructs or each other.

He creates.

I'm a late-comer here. I like Tim because of his candour and transparency. Yeah he's a shit-stirrer, manipulator, cheeky trouble-maker...but he's never tried or professed to being anything else. He is stridently, unapologetically himself. Ed on the other hand exhibits a lot of behaviours that are grossly incongruous with what he is trying to portray, and who he constantly professes to be. That's why he's so wound up and agitated and paranoid about his image and perception. He's a walking, talking example of cognitive dissonance at its worst.

Well I am glad to hear that most of you agree that he is manipulative and wouldn't want him as a friend in real life. I agree that he is great to watch and I love his creative side eg the drawing, the ideas he comes up with etc. But I just can't get past his underhanded way of operating. He is much more manipulative than Ed but he seems to get away with it more, not sure why, is it because he is funny? Or are people really fooled by him?

And to answer a pp about why I focused on his negative traits - I felt I had to because I rarely see anything but love and devotion for everything Tim does. Plus if you check my original post you will see that I also said he was funny and entertaining and intelligent. Also, I think manipulation and selfishness are very negative traits that I can't see past. I dont care how funny people are, if they are manipulative then i won't like them.

Oh and someone else said Ben was his good friend? Did you hear what Ben said during his eviction? He was pretty negative. Oh and Ben told Boogs during the elf task the other day that he used to be Tims punching bag. I dont feel much love for Tim coming from Ben to be honest.

You show your own naivety with these comments. Tim clearly comes from an insular and privileged background.

Tim wouldn't last 5 minutes in the real world.

If he was 4mins 10 seconds old and not in his 30s that comment might have some smidgeon of believability ..... Pretty sure he has been living in the real world for a while ...... Keep throwing those hooks out tho. I'm in a mood for swimming and tugging on hooks :o

You are assuming here that Ben is a loyal friend. There are several things to consider regarding Ben's comments about Tim. Is Ben really a gold-standard example of a good, loyal friend upon which to measure his comments about Tim? Do you recall the conversation about dropping the friend over the cost of a pie and drink?
Ben sought Tim out several times for emotional support, and was given it, far better emotional support and compassionate advice than the "you'll be right, chin up mate" or "you're wonderful, be yourself, keep being exactly as you are" drivel that other HMs gave him. Tim cared about Ben and considered his post-BB life, not just the day-to-day stuff that was happening at the present time. It's telling that Ben sought Tim out in times of need. If he was "just his punching bag", do you really think he would do that?
When Ben was fake evicted, he was privy to Ed sounding off in the Diary Room about whaddyaknowwhodathunkitsurprisesurprise - Tim, painting him as a villain who treated Ben badly and manipulated him etc. Tim was the only HM whom Ben was given a poor and false impression of during his time as a fake evictee, based on Ed's Tim vendetta.
Ben also failed to win Big Brother, he was evicted, and Tim is still there. Ben, despite his humble, "Oh, I'm not going to win" talks to Australia via his photos/Sonia/the Diary Room/live feed etc, did think he had it in the bag based on the audience feedback he received (applause etc), his confidence in his endearing character, the propping up by fellow HMs/Sonia etc . The "See you in October" comment to his mother proved it. It's not such a stretch to think that Ben might feel cheated by Tim being an audience favourite and the potential winner.
So I'm not sure I place much stock in Ben's comments at all.
