Who is the narcissist?

Heidi's the narcissist for me. Can't stand her.
Exactly. You won't like that for me Tim is also the narcissist. Tim Heidi, Heidi Tim - peas in a pod. With you being a Tim fan I don't expect you to see it (I mean this nicely), but Tim and Heidi have much in common.
Loud-mouthed, obnoxious, unkempt... I'd better stop, out of the corner of my eye I just glimpsed people bending down to pick up rocks ttfn :p

I see this as well. Tim and Heidi are very similar but Tim is more extreme and more funny. They both seem narcissistic to me.

I think a lot of people have a little narcissism in them, seeing as some of that criteria seems pretty broad.

That excerpt from the full article states clearly that not all narcissists will have all of those traits. In Waily's case, I think her mother's illness probably made her have to take on responsibility for her own emotional care at a younger age than most; even so, these are the traits I would associate with her from that list:
Difficulty with empathy (eg. in the HWH she was unable to see others were in the same boat)
Hypersensitivity to any insults or imagined insults (see criticism and narcissists, narcissistic rage and narcissistic injury) (eg. the mini-tantrum at not being told it wasn't really tim's birthday, feeling left out)
Vulnerability to shame rather than guilt (eg. Tim's party - she felt made a fool of rather than accepting with grace that she'd been taken in - just like all the others)
Flattery towards people who admire and affirm them (narcissistic supply) (eg. meatheads/Drew)
Detesting those who do not admire them (narcissistic abuse) (eg. Mikkayla, sisters)
Using other people without considering the cost of doing so (eg. Drew - without being concerned with others' relationships with him... Tim's party again highlighted this)
Inability to view the world from the perspective of other people (all of the above)
Denial of remorse and gratitude (eg Mikkayla and others comforting her with the HWH, phone call from Tahlia etc - with no thanks etc from her)

Because they're good friends; not because she thinks she's better than anyone.

I disagree. Just cos ur good friends with someone doesn't mean they have to let u in on everything. To think that is arrogant and possessive. And to expect to be let in on a prank that is being played on the majority of the household because of friendship shows to me she thinks she has a superior position of friendship which over rules everything!

She was in a sucky mood being in the cage (aka halfway house). Others were the same. E.g. Xavier crying and being frustrated about having no privacy.

The difference between Xavier and Tully is that Xavier found the lack of privacy hard. Tully may have too but she admitted not wanting to be in there because of who was in there. And when they were all standing at the fence as the nominations were being read out she physically stepped away and put distance between herself and the other nominees.

I'd be a bit pissed if I found out that my best friend in the house was keeping a secret from me. She didn't think she was better than everyone else; she thought her friendship with Drew was strong enough that he wouldn't lie to her.

Yes because she got along better with the HMs in the safe house. The people in the halfway house were stuck having to be around each other 24/7 with no room to ever be by themselves. Tully tried to escape the cameras a couple of times. Once when she was in the bedroom in a spot where she thought the cameras couldn't reach her, and another time when she went to the bathroom and sort of just sat in the corner. So she also had trouble with the lack of privacy.

To me a true friendship is one where you can play harmless pranks on one another without it being treated as a big deal. Interesting you refer to Drew as Tully's best friend in the house. I'd be curious to know if he considers her his 'best friend'.

It wasn't exactly harmless though. He made them look like idiots in front of the whole country.

Tully and Drew seem like best friends from the edit they get but who knows? I could be wrong.

They definitely get an edit of closeness I agree. And from all our posts we all think there is closeness too (exact depth unclear) I just mean that his view of their relationship might not be the same as hers.

I wouldn't feel I had been made an idiot in front of the country. I have a logical brain and know that most people watching would realise that any person in the world would have done the same thing, I.e. dressed up and celebrated his birthday, so what reason to feel an idiot?? And no one is hurt, the world is still turning, all the seal cubs in the Antarctic didn't collectively die, they just got dressed up and had a fairly amusing day. No harm no foul

i would barely even call them friends. you don't treat your friend like shit because he has a bit of fun with another friend. How did they look like fools on tv? The only foolish thing was stomping around like an entitled brat who thinks drew's world should revolve around her. Stop defending the indefensible. She's a major snot and there is not a lot to like about her. And before you go in for the "her mums sick" line, so are a lot of peoples mums, and fathers, and siblings.

Haha yeah but being on Big Brother would be different from real life because it's such a strange and isolating environment. Everyone is watching you but you have no idea what's going on outside the house or even behind the mirror in front of you. If I was in there, I'm sure I'd be hypersensitive to anything embarrassing.

I wanted to double check my understanding of narcissism after Ed and Caleb discussing Tim's supposed self label as a narcissist.

Wikipedia (I know, not a brilliant source, but good enough for this discussion) list the following signs and traits:
"A 2012 popular book on power-hungry narcissists suggests that narcissists typically display most, and sometimes all, of the following traits:[6]

An obvious self-focus in interpersonal exchanges
Problems in sustaining satisfying relationships
A lack of psychological awareness (see insight in psychology and psychiatry, egosyntonic)
Difficulty with empathy
Problems distinguishing the self from others (see narcissism and boundaries)
Hypersensitivity to any insults or imagined insults (see criticism and narcissists, narcissistic rage and narcissistic injury)
Vulnerability to shame rather than guilt
Haughty body language
Flattery towards people who admire and affirm them (narcissistic supply)
Detesting those who do not admire them (narcissistic abuse)
Using other people without considering the cost of doing so
Pretending to be more important than they really are
Bragging (subtly but persistently) and exaggerating their achievements
Claiming to be an "expert" at many things
Inability to view the world from the perspective of other people
Denial of remorse and gratitude"

It immediately made me think more of Waily than Tim. Comments?

Well the first person that sprang to my mind was Tully.

I'm sure everyone including those in the BB house all have a little bit of narcissism in them - human nature really but a lot of these traits really seem to sum Tully up.

I wasn't going to bring up her mum's illness at all, but now that you mention it, it probably does have a huge impact on her and it would be the same if anyone else in her position went on Big Brother. Of course she has friends in the house; she has to hang around these same people for weeks on end with no breaks. You can't help but get close to people in that environment.

and i don't think she's a narcissist but she behaves like a child, a spoilt one.

I am not a fan but I don't think she is a narcissist either. Or Tim or any of them. While I have some doubts about who they let on I trust the psych people enough that they would never let a true narcissist on the show. And the reaction to a perceived ridicule would be FAR more extreme!!!' (From what I have read on the personality type)

There is a difference between pulling a prank and keeping a secret. A huge difference! And everyone is entitled to have secrets. It's called privacy. I would be a bit pissed at friend who thought they had a right to demand info from/about me at all times, I don't care how good a friend they are. A good friend would would realise not everything is about them and the friendship. And using the word 'lie' is being a bit dramatic.
