Shackles

The pen is mightier than the sword.
I thought BB 2008 had a really nasty, mean-spirited house. Where do I even start? There was the bullying of Travis by Rory, Ben, and Nobbi; the cattiness among several of the women, including Bianca, Dixie, Rebecca, and Rene; Cherry bluntly telling Rhianna that he hated her; Saxon’s coldness (which really rubbed me the wrong way); and, of course, Terri and Terrence being low-key discriminatory toward Nobbi’s “Asian” eyes.
Rewatching the seasons a few years back, I was struck by how rude the evicted housemates were even in their parting messages, saying things like “keep playing the game, you’re so fake,” and similar remarks. These housemates never forgave or forgot. 😵‍💫😁

Not to mention, BB 2005 and BB 2006 had some mean and really unlikable housemates as well. Though 2006 was an amazing season, despite this. 2007 would've been a great contender if Bodie, Emma and Demet stayed longer and formed a strong alliance together. I feel like Aleisha "moderated" Emma.

Note: Had to combine the 2013-2014 seasons because the poll does NOT allow more than 10 options.

I started a rewatch of 2012 and only made it a few eps in and couldn't go on. So it's 2008 and 2012 for me.

I have considered a rewatch of 2012 but its so much commitment for such a nasty cast.
How so, though? 2012 has always been my favourite season. It had an eclectic mix of personalities: the nerdy types like Michael and Bradley; the sensitive, soft-hearted contestants like the amazing Estelle and Sarah; and the barefaced, funny (yet still sweet, to be honest) Benjamin and seductive Angie. Stacey and Zoe were pretty interesting to me too and sometimes Stacey had a Vesna-vibe, but not as outrageously epic. Then there were the boring meatheads like George, Josh and Ray—oh, and let's not forget Oats a la-Layla.

My point is that despite how mean Benjamin was (which is where most of the controversy centred), he was still likeable overall (his funny nature did it for me, especially his impressions of Sam being potato-faced Lmao)—no wonder he won. The season itself flowed well and felt straightforward and cohesive (2013 began to feel gimmicky and just performative with Ben and even Tim).

Unpopular opinion, but I will never forget this cast: 🤷‍♂️

The weakest aspects of this season were the cringey love affair between Josh and Ava—and, of course, Surly. But were the housemates really that nasty overall? Not really. The so-called “tough” masculine guys were pretty weak compared to those in previous seasons. Michael, Ray, Sam, and George were nothing like Nobbi, Ben, or Rory when it came to nastiness or meanness. Even Angie—who nearly got violent with Layla—seemed meek compared to Bianca and Rene. Lol. And the rest of the girls were generally pretty chill, even if they were slightly snarky (Stacey and Zoe).

I just can't get over the relentless bullying of Estelle by the majority of the housemates. It was relentless and went over the whole run of the season.

Housemates like Benjamin, Stacey, Angie, Zoey, Michael (to begin with). It was cruel, and the amount of bitchiness that went on behind Estelle's back was insane.

Even to the point when Estelle was evicted and Benjamin threw her horse across the wall, and said something mean about her. Nothing redeeming about him in my eyes.

But isn't he a fabulous/out/sassy gay guy which is a demographic we love to see on Big Brother?
