Columbo
Never again
There is a dead man in the middle of a field, nothing is around him and there are no footprints of any sort. There is an unopened package next to him. How did he die? HINT: As he approached the field he knew he was going to die.
I'll post the answer later.

Never heard of them.......googled, I see a series about a boy detective, written by an American.......that would never have appealed to my browsing the local libraries or requests for gifts.
UK & Australian authors ruled my childhood..........with the odd US stuff, and Ann of Greengables
You got me......going down net rabbit holes now.......the books I loved as a kid......do you want my favourites lists???

i'm currently writing these series of short stories about a couple of anthropomorphic dogs solve cases brought to them by the other animals (also anthropomorphic) in their little town. So yeah it's basically a town full of animals acting human-like.
and because i'm aiming it more for kids the cases aren't too serious or unrealistic. like i won't have them solving a murder.

and the encyclopedia brown books i kind of got inspired by that. as in i re-read those books and thought that would be an interesting thing to tackle.
the problem with those books is the way he solves the crimes are silly. i mean half the time he accuses someone based on the fact that they got some obscure piece of trivia incorrect.

I have very lovely memories of reading books with my Mum, especially Anne of Green Gables & Lord of the Rings .....we both stayed up all night reading LOTR first book, could not go to sleep for fear for poor Froddo.
And the Anne books were required reading, by our Mum.....she is part of those books
Mum was a brilliant red headed orphan...so naturally Anne was her most loved heroin
Island time....
