her voice would have sent artistic greatness to new levels on that show. billions would have tuned in to watch her sing, sing with such greatness, such soul, and such heart. heart from the very deoths of her soul. a soul that is so spoulful. so soulful that us mere mortals, us foolish fucking mortals, must sit back and enjoy the greatness, the ever lasting greatness of tina arena.
Columbo
Never again
and then we see tina arena being turned into a wall. but she still makes musuc. wonderful artistic music with her backing door knob band. ohh the music they mak, tina arena the wall and her door knob band.
"play it together," says tina arena the wall.
"nbhtyygfg" says the door knobs in their strange door knob language.

but then a giant seven foot spoon comes in and challenges tina arena to a duel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
how will tina get out of this one??
how will she cope with a duel.
especially considering she has a no duel rule written in her contract.
will she duel.
will she run away.
will she curse the night sky? curse it until the stars are all gone and her voice has booked a holiday?
she does one better. she summons up her courage, her courage deep inside her, the one where she uses to fight seaplanes and fish fingers.
she sings. a wally song about walls.
and when the spoon hears tina sing she sighs, for tina sings with all her precious heart and soul, sing so much that she is cauing the earth to ritate faster as her powerful singing is so powerful, sing so much that the waves stop to listen to her, sing so much that tina is on the floor, singing with such passion, singing that it is reverberating all through her body, singing so much that she has to let i out, just let it out of her soul, her soul that's been tied up, so she starts banging her head against the ground, the hard concrete ground in time with the musuc. banging her head until she starts to bleed, until the blood runs down her face. blocking her eyes and freeing her soul. she starts to wonder why she isn't dead yet, but she has no time for the big questions in life, so she keeps banging and sinbging, banging and singing, banging and singing. and still the blood flows. she licks the blood, it tastes like jam.
"inigo, inigo, inigo, inigo...." tina arena sings.
and the spoon is so touched by the passion of that, the soul that tina sings, that she calls of the duel.
tina arena the wall is happy.
so are the doorknobs. we think.
i mean can one truly know how doorknobs feel?

correct, young delcan, i am a speed reader.
Something we share, very rapid reader, I devour them when I am in a reading phase......
work is a lot of reading, so I have long periods where I just read History and stuff about art , and weird stuff on the net
I could swallow a couple of books a day if I wanted, but if reading for pleasure I slow it down and savour beautiful words & ideas
I was always fast but also did a speed reading course at Uni years ago, that was fun
How about you reepbot? Just naturally fast???
Columbo
Never again
yes, just naturally fast.
though if it's a book that's written before the 20th century I have to slow down to appreciate and understand the language a bit more.
but there are some books, like a cosy mystery, which are far more easier to read. you could cut out like three quarters of the words in those books and you still wouldn't miss anything imo.

i also like to read biographies. political, entertainment, and sometimes history (sometimes sport if the sports person is interesting, or is written well) most often i just read them straight through, but some times i might flick through them and just glance at the interesting bits (I don't count the biographies I flick through in my book count).
one of the biographies i have been flicking through is about an american entertainer called bob hope. apparently he was a comedian who found success in tv, radio, and movies. anyway, that's not the interesting part. the interesting part was in his later years, where his relevance had all but gone, yet the goodwill of some people enabled him to continue on even in his eighties and nineties even though it was clear he maybe should have bowed out of showbiz. his comic timing was off, hearing bad, and his eyesight was going.
what fascinated me about that was how he had such goodwill wit the network that he was on that they were prepared to accommodate his specials. and it also made me wonder if slightly younger entertainers in the vein of bob hope, or any type of famous celebrity, saw the decline of bob hope and thought to themselves that if they got to that age they'd retire with dignity and step out of the spotlight, save for the rare award show appearance.

Oh, reepbot.
I’m surprised you haven’t seen any of his movies.

He is a respected legend in USA for his unrelenting entertaining of troops in warzones......I think it started WW2, he took everyone to the troops, in every usa war.
And, funny thing I know about him is he was a family man with a long marriage, and his comedy partner Bing Crosby seemed like the good guy onscreen and was a complete arsehole alcoholic womaniser.
I used to love those old on the road movies
I think he was born in the UK and maybe knighted, USA would have given him anything he wanted he did such a lot for society

Yes the road movies were still on television rotation when I was young. I imagine they could be terribly racist to watch them again.
