US 2016 Presidential Election

Shocking to see. As one of if not the loudest and most committed feminist on this forum it is so sad to see the pay gap being such a big issue in these so called enlightened times.

The struggle continues.

Being FUNNY.....SILLY AND FARCE, much better, cheers

Got to laugh....

In Trump’s White House, Women Staffers Earn 63 Cents for Every Dollar Earned by Men
since Trump has taken office, the gender pay gap among White House staffers has more than tripled, from about 11 percent under President Obama to 37 percent under Trump.

Got to cry.....

GOP Lawmakers Bought Health-Insurance Stocks While Advancing Trumpcare
Health industry stocks, including insurance giants like UnitedHealth, have surged as Republicans move forward with their repeal effort, which rolls back broad taxes on health care firms while loosening consumer regulations which prevent insurance companies from denying coverage for medical treatment. UnitedHealth has gained nearly 7 percent in value since March 24. And Republicans are buying up big. They intend to make a profit from the poor dying.

Trump-era Republican Party has grown quite comfortable with complicity in manifest corruption — let alone with giving the appearance of it.

G20: Does Donald Trump's awkward performance indicate America's decline as world power?
(sure does)
The G20 became the G19 as it ended. On the Paris climate accords the United States was left isolated and friendless.

It is, apparently, where this US President wants to be as he seeks to turn his nation inward.

Donald Trump has a particular, and limited, skill-set. He has correctly identified an illness at the heart of the Western democracy. But he has no cure for it and seems to just want to exploit it.

He is a character drawn from America's wild west, a travelling medicine showman selling moonshine remedies that will kill the patient.

And this week he underlined he has neither the desire nor the capacity to lead the world.

Given the US was always going to be one out on climate change, a deft American President would have found an issue around which he could rally most of the leaders.

He had the perfect vehicle — North Korea's missile tests.

So, where was the G20 statement condemning North Korea? That would have put pressure on China and Russia? Other leaders expected it and they were prepared to back it but it never came.

There is a tendency among some hopeful souls to confuse the speeches written for Mr Trump with the thoughts of the man himself.

He did make some interesting, scripted, observations in Poland about defending the values of the West.

And Mr Trump is in a unique position — he is the one man who has the power to do something about it.

But it is the unscripted Mr Trump that is real. A man who barks out bile in 140 characters, who wastes his precious days as President at war with the West's institutions — like the judiciary, independent government agencies and the free press.

He was an uneasy, awkward figure at this gathering and you got the strong sense some other leaders were trying to find the best way to work around him.

Mr Trump is a man who craves power because it burnishes his celebrity. To be constantly talking and talked about is all that really matters. And there is no value placed on the meaning of words. So what is said one day can be discarded the next.

So, what did we learn this week?

We learned Mr Trump has pressed fast forward on the decline of the US as a global leader.
He managed to diminish his nation and to confuse and alienate his allies.
He will cede that power to China and Russia — two authoritarian states that will forge a very different set of rules for the 21st century.

Some will cheer the decline of America, but I think we'll miss it when it is gone.

And that is the biggest threat to the values of the West which he claims to hold so dear.

Normally, the US president is the person everyone wants to talk to and be seen with. Not any more. When was the last time the US president was just left to twiddle his thumbs at any kind of summit? So much for making America great again.

That last bit from the ABCs Chris Uhlmann was pretty powerful. He's generally on the conservative side of the fence too.

America is great again thanks to Trump. No longer having to kowtow to the liberal European Union and their globalist propaganda that ruins the American working class.

As a complete aside but an amusing one a news article I read recently said cow tail instead of of kowtow. :)

Actually - has America ever been great?
I don't see any evidence of it ever being especially a good place to live, shit wages, shit health, shit food, shit movies mainly, a lot of shit TV.
Horrible for women mostly.
They kill kids and mental health patients, their legal system sucks.
America has confused rich with great, and a handful of rich old white guys richer than many little countries, not great, creepy.
I can even recall as a kid thinking what dorks Americans are, hideous clothes and swimsuits, daggy.

January 20th 2017 to January 20th 2025 is when America is great. When Donald Trump rules with open arms and a wonderful smile making America truly and utterly great.

That Chris Uhlmann eloquent and incisive Trump assessment went viral worldwide....as you commented @oddjob powerful; and so well said....

'Sadly, your assessment of him is dead-on': Americans react to Australian journalist's brutal takedown of US President Donald Trump and his behaviour at the G20 summit
  • Americans flocked to social media to express support for an Australian journalist
  • Political editor Chris Uhlmann delivered a scathing analysis of Donald Trump
  • 'He was an uneasy, lonely, awkward figure' he said about Mr Trump at the G20
  • Social media users took to Twitter to voice their support for Uhlmann
  • 'Sums up in two minutes what every progressive has been trying to say for a year'
Americans have flocked to social media to react to an Australian journalist's brutal take-down of US President Donald Trump and his behaviour at the G20 summit.

ABC political editor Chris Uhlmann delivered a scathing analysis of Mr Trump at the G20 summit in Germany when he appeared on the Insiders program on Sunday.

'He was an uneasy, lonely, awkward figure at this gathering and you got the strong sense some of the leaders are trying to find the best way to work around him,' Uhlmann said.

....
Thousands of people took to Twitter to support Uhlmann and commend him on his eloquent delivery.

'Australian reporter Chris Uhlmann sums up in two minutes what every progressive in America has been trying to say for a year. Pitch perfect,' Nathan Dame said.

'Wow. A searing assessment of the President of the United States by political editor Chris Uhlmann of Australia's ABC,' Bradd Jaffy said.

Support for the ABC journalist continued to flow throughout most of the day on Sunday, with hundreds of Americans joining the chorus of those praising Uhlmann.

'[He] is the first journalist to accurately assess the reign of Donald Trump, and what he just did to America,' the Rebel Action Network tweeted.

'Sadly, your assessment of Trump is dead-on. We Americans and the world deserve better than this incompetent, incoherent ignoramus,' Shelly Sure sai

'Trump has brought shame on America, he is the laughing stock of the world,' PrairieWind Creation said.

During Uhlmann's two-minute speech, he also took aim at Mr Trump's use of Twitter, saying he 'barks out bile in 140 characters' and 'wastes his precious days as president'.

'To be constantly talking and be talked about is all that really matters and there is no value placed on the meanings of words.'

While the majority heaped praise on Uhlmann and supported his message, he was not without his critics.

Uhlmann was a former senior advisor to conservative Christian independent Paul Osborne.

He was also considered a conservative political commentator.

While he sent Twitter into meltdown, Uhlmann himself remained silent on social media on Sunday.

lol at all those journos getting so crabby that Trump is still President. the media think they control society but Mr Trump was like a big slap in the face into those wall street loving hippies.

wall street loving hippies.
I am really not understanding this phrase. I cannot imagine many flower power, long flowing haired, tye-died wearing vegans in the wall Street stock exchange buying and selling shares. Makes an interesting mental image but certainly not the norm!
