Twin Peaks

Be warned it does go downhill in the 2nd season because the suits put pressure on Lynch to reveal the 'big mystery' behind the series as they were of the opinion viewers wouldn't hang around if it wasn't resolved.

Well once the main mystery was let out the bag the show went up shit creek. Shows how much execs know, they should really stick to bean counting and leave the creative process to the artists. :pompus:

Oh that's disappointing to hear, but sadly unsurprising. I remember Lynch said he had originally wanted to make Mullholland Drive a tv series but for whatever reason opted for a feature film. I'm so glad this occurred, I can't imagine it meeting the same fate you've described, although it would've been pretty cool in episodic TV format.

did you like the final episodes and Fire Walk With me? :writing:

Twin Peaks = amazing. The pilot episode is just so perfect, and the characters continue to develop throughout the first season and the first half of the second. as you guys noted, it goes tits-up around halfway through the final season. I watched it at the time and it just seemed to drag on aimlessly, introducing new characters and focussing too much on people we weren't invested in (without saying too much, a lookalike family member). It also got a bit too surreal towards the end. It did finish strongly though, and Fire Walk With Me wrapped it up/set it up nicely. Looking forward to the new version!

Given the circumstances yes I was reasonbly happy with how the series was concluded. You can tell that Lynch took over for the last remaining eps of S02 as the tone and feel of the show returned to what originally made it a hit.

To be honest I'm a little ambivalent about FWWM, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great either.

Mulholland Dr. happens to be my favourite movie of all time. In this instance I'm glad things turned out the way they did.

I've previously shared on this board that my favourite 2 shows of all time are Carnivale
...

Plus 1 for Carnivale.

I presume @SomeName will have something to say about that. :whistling:

I've heard he's the jealous type, I'm watching my back from now on. :angelic:

And totally NOT the jealous type. I'm a slut so share and share alike ahahHAHAHAHAHAHHA

....

Anyway, can we talk about the Buffy episode when her mother died? Probably the pinnacle of Joss Whedon's writing/directing career.

Who else is boarding the hype train for 2016?
Me

I did an entire weekend a couple of months ago watching season 1 & 2 of Twin Peaks. Also watched "Fire come walk with me". Currently watching X-Files series 1 at the moment. Nothing beats these offbeat shows.

"She's dead, wrapped in plastic". :dead:

Log Lady: One day my log will have something to say about this. My log saw something that night.:sneaky:

Loved it and still have the soundtrack, that I listen to...

This song, I've played most days since, well, longer than most the whippersnappers posting here, have been alive... It's still, all these years later, even made it on my "Bay Run" playlist... (A run, I normally mainly walk at this time of the year)!

Oh my GOD why does YouTube choose the most HORRIFIC video first? I am v.sorry for the soft porn video. If it had Twin Peaks images, that'd be what I MEANT, or even the artist. But I was over-eager, posted, assuming it was good then just watched... Apologies.

Anyway, Twin Peaks. Excellent show and v.excited.

Haha no worries C.G about the video. The official clip is boring as batshit.

The musical piece that is most memorable for me in Twin Peaks, is when Audrey is dancing by herself in Norma's diner (song she chooses from the jukebox scene). It's so hypnotic and pmsl when Audrey looks over to Donna mid-dance and says "I love this music, isn't it just dreamy"? The look on Donna's face is priceless.

Angelo Badalamenti nailed it with the musical score for the show.

Whoops my bad. Audrey says she loves the music and isn't it too dreamy prior to getting up to dance to it. Got the look on Donna's face part right though :p

Yeah, I think that (awesome) track is literally called "Audrey's Dance."

One of my faves is "Laura Palmer's Theme"; so hauntingly beautiful.

I have this sweet 'Gold' DVD box set, and it has an interview with Angelo about composing the music. He says he wrote most of it on this old Fender Rhodes piano, and he plays Laura's theme on it in the interview which is amazing.

It's actually fairly easy to play (I'm a terrible pianist), but it's so effective in it's simplicity.

Spine-tingling...
