Tim Dormer back in the House

How about this - the HM's pick who they want to go out of the bottom 2 but it's up to Tim to have the final say. So say it's Gemma and Jake and the HM's pick Gemma who would Tim pick - his mate Jake or Gemma someone who annoys the HM's.
I'd be willing to bet you $100 that if that is the case and he gets to decide who goes home (which I don't think it is as he said tonight it's shit that HMs get to choose) he would pick Gemma to stay. He likes Gemma, David, Priya and wants to bone Skye. He also said in his BB vid that even he wouldn't vote for Jake as it is. Tim's a lot of things but he's not afraid to play BB properly. He feels for Gemma as he feels she's being isolated.

It's nice to dream though...............

Can we start the hashtag Mavnotapurist?
I jacked it from someone else on here (sorry whomever it was as I can't remember now) but yeah, we should. I'm hoping @Tim or @marquisite starts adding it at the end of every one of the expose articles about BB. Even better if people would turn up to the live tapings with it on tshirts. Security guards probably wouldn't bother to look at the jumble of letters but you damn well know Alex would see it.

As for social media, Channel Nine were advertising on LinkedIn for casual social media producers for the series to work rotating shifts, instead they should have paid for someone to write/update the live feeds.
the best place they could look for live feed writers is right here on bbb. for years those people would watch and log the feeds 24/7, and when something noteworthy happened we all found out thanks to them. the person they hired would need to do it 'out of love' rather than simply for a paycheck.

Heck, I'd even do it for free...

I think BB advertisers will be annoyed too. They will be paying good money to have their ads on the website and I'm sure the amount of web traffic they're getting has dramatically decreased this year since they removed live feeds - that was the only reason I went on the website last year. I was probably checking the website a few times a day to see what was going on.

Wow.

Despite all the crappy things that have happened over the years, I've stuck with Big Brother for 1.3 decades. But never has something so destructive to the show's formula ever happened. This season was showing promise. Despite how scripted the daily shows were there were some real gem moments coming through from the forced controversy.

But, in my eyes, this Tim thing has really disqualified BBAU as being any kind of solid reality TV show.

Alex M is clearly a network TV puppet. And frankly putting Tim Dormer back in the house is SHITTING on the BBAU format. Alex is a transparent sellout. Peter Abbott called it on this week's episode of Reality Check. We aren't being unrealistic fans: even the original Big Brother has called out how contrived Alex M's version of the show is.

Why the fuck should we even bother? Alex is clearly grasping at anything that will deliver him ratings figures, even if he hasn't thought the idea through properly. And to think just a few weeks ago he called himself a "BB Purist". What a sack of bullshit.

Remember when there was a rule that you couldn't talk about previous BB series? Not in the world of desperate Alex Mavroidakis. Hell, when ratings figures slump you can throw as many ex-housemates in as you want.

So Alex - while you think you are a "BB Purist". We all see you as the fraud you are - inept at following the BB formula and desperate to prove yourself with ratings figures that are utterly forgettable.

Such an awesome post @Tim ... Alex, Chris, Nine, and Endemol are all at fault. Why won't they stand up for the format. Look at The X Factor: it was bought by Channel TEN originally basically in a drive to eliminate any competing singing show that could lessen the audience of Australian Idol at the time. Then in a reboot on Channel 7 several years later, format owner Simon Cowell put his foot down basically to make sure it was produced properly.

Not to mention the pack of cards and sharpie permanent marker that Lawson used in tonight's daily show (no writing in the BB house; nor any instruments that would aid writing). Another fundamental Big Brother format rule broken. But Amongst all the BB format sins of 2014 this one is pretty minute.

That's what a scalping looks like.

The show certainly isn't the same show it was in 2001. Things change. So much resistance to change in this forum.

There have been many many twists over the years with old housemates re entering, celebs entering -- heaps of 'outside' info getting in.

After having one of the best game playing winners of the series EVER, why wouldn't you find a role for him again?

And every TV show, including every reality to show adapts to try and gain more ratings. BB is not in a bubble in this regard.

well, the 'why' is an important issue, and i dont think anyone can really know why the decision was made to put tim back in the house.
a opinion based purely on ratings may be a bit jaded, because its possible that the decision is the result of either pragmatism or desperation.
imo, i think the pairing thing was the worst idea ever, and its possible that bbhq thinks things are going off the rails. so they are sending in tim with the mission of fixing it in a sense.

or maybe i am being naive and it really is a pure ratings-grab.

The TL : DR version of my post is:

If you're the executive producer of Big Brother and you have to bring back Tim Dormer to boost ratings then you clearly aren't doing your job properly and are incompetent at producing Big Brother.

I wonder if any of the housemates will catch on to how shit this season is by Tim going in so early? Surely those housemates that have half a brain will be wondering why? If my memory serves me right, the house hasn't had any 'visitors' until the final weeks (excluding intruders).

So true - if I saw him in like week 2 I would be like, "wtf"[DOUBLEPOST=1411138605][/DOUBLEPOST]
Is this some kind of shade? Never mind, I don't want to know.

Then don't ask??...

I always am a little bit perplexed and a little bemused when the words "ratings grab" are thrown around as a bad thing? Higher ratings means more people watched.

If more people wanted to watch, what was the reason? Because the producer gave the audience what it wanted.

In saying this, I think Alex was pretty stupid to call himself a purist.

I'm definitely not a purist. I'm a Big Brother lover. I love the show in its original and current form and everything in between.
