I'm sure securing Superman was part of the decision. Another large part would be his displeasure with the writers of the show not giving a crap about the source material. He's publicly talked about how he's had to constantly fight them about the basic lore of the world. Recently a former writer on the show discussed how some of the writers actively disliked the source material and how negative an environment that creates.
I don't know why they delete these tweets. Just going to have to start ripping the videos and reposting them here rather than the tweets themselves.
