The Voice 2014

Im not sure how much more Ricky can open up, I sometimes cringe at how passionate he becomes. Its heartfelt, don't get me wrong, but a tad cheesy for me lol

I'm warming to all of the judges now. I've always loved Joel and immediately found Will.i.am adorable. Kylie seems a bit more relaxed and natural now which lets her personality shine through; maybe it was nerves for the first few nights? Ricky is soooo pretty he can do anything he likes. :p

Yes she could actually be a great coach, she has a lot of industry experience and has cracked the international industry including the notoriously difficult US scene. No onecould possibly deny Delta's talent but she really has only had 1 successful album and spent many years not being active in the industry - I remember less than 10 years into her career in 2009 when she was doing ads for proactiv, soy milk and shampoo, to name a few, not really the mark of a successful recording artist.

Kylie is not the most talented of the group but she has star power and probably has a lot more wisdom to pass on. One can hope anyway.

Kylie is still a relative nobody over here... She's got a small niche group of fans but en masse it would be hard to find more than a few people who actually know who she is...

I actually like all of the coaches this season. Kylie is kind of annoying but she doesn't even approach the surface of the irritation that Delta brought me.

Will is one cool cat. I love his comments and his facial expressions. I've always loved Joel on the show and he's even more adorable this year. I like Ricky too although I don't see the obsession that a lot have with him. It's a good dynamic this year between the coaches.

Everyone, you must watch The Voice this evening, little Laura-Leigh is on tonights episode.

I probably should find out if she gets through before I start roping in the masses, but still. Watch!

I know Brandon. The tall kid with the crazy mum. Lol well I know his sister and have met him a few times over years.

I have been a big fan of Will.I.Am ever since I saw him give away a house on Oprah a few years ago (yes a house)

Okay so mind blown! I hadn't seen the first show and I was just watching the last blind audition where they showed a wrap up of the teams and I realised I know one of the contestants! His name is Matt Verevis and he's on Will's team.

Poor Charne. So desperate for fame, so destined not to get there.

You kind of know immediately that someone like that who has already had their one shot at fame isn't going to get in, like the coaches have been tipped off.

Haylen Jensen from Idol has gotten through, but she's talented. I reckon she'll be cut early for the same reason though, she's had her shot.

I liked him!

Not necessarily, Taylor Henderson was in the final of Australia's Got Talent and then he also came 2nd on X Factor.

The talent shows have changed so much. I remember when it was such a scandal, back in the Idol days, if it was discovered if the artists had a previous record deal or whatever.

Now with the voice. It's unusual if they HAVEN'T got a deal or been someone's back up singer or had a somewhat noteworthy profile doing something else.

Yet they did kick Carmen out on The Voice season one for appearing in a Guy Sebastian clip. The following year they had his brother.

I really liked Robbie and Jackson's battle tonight. I adore Robbie. His shyness and slight awkwardness draws me in. But I'm glad Jackson was saved

I think the difference here is that they require people to not currently be signed or doing paid work that has a profile. Carmen got kicked out because it was high profile singing work (was heavily featured vocals in the song, not just an appearance in video clip), whereas all of the record deals they mention are in the past and did not eventuate into stardom.

That was fair enough - featuring in the clip of the guy on a competing TV stations, competing talent quest is just too over the top.
In general the voice encourages pros, just not people in what amounts to adds for rivals.

Gentleman Keith back tonight, he is a sweet soul, and 9 were lucky to have him help set a great tone on this show, he gave it a lot of cred.
He was really the only actual current talent on the panel then - and paved the way.

I am also appreciating how Kylie has really downplayed her glamour, very simple little black dress/then simple white frock - neither distracting from the contestants time to shine.
Whereas, Delta and her weird and wonderful get ups, sometimes even trailing curtains, and her towering heels (when she is already taller than anyone).
Well it was all about Delta wasn't it, look at meeeeeeeeeeee
