THE VIRUS 2020 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

Has this ad been rolled out into other states yet? Or is it still only being shown in NSW?
I am not a fan, and not sure it effectively delivers the message the Feds are trying to send.

Also, it's pretty appalling to tell people the 'book their vaccination' when so many people can't get vaccinated, but that's another argument.

Reading through Is there any actual evidence that NSW were “gold standard?”

Seems like it was mostly luck to me but am happily to be corrected. 😉
It's the "Ruby" standard.

Determining how much luck it was versus good management is something that is impossible for any of us to ascertain. The humidity of the air affects how long the virus hands around in it. There are so many factors. What needs to be focused on is hotel quarantine is a flawed system that does leak.

How you respond to those leaks is what is important. Even then, human behaviour is a major factor. Complacency by the Government and the people is the issue here. As well as one glaring issue that is strikingly similar to something that went on with Melbourne's second lock down which is politically sensitive to touch.

UK are ending their restrictions on July 19. They are going to learn to live with COVID. Masks are not compulsory but recommended. Most of population have had their first vaccine dose.

I fear it is going to be a big disaster over there in the next couple of months with this strategy. I feel for the NHS staff who have been working to exhaustion over the past year and a half.

Surely it’s just going to make the hospital and staff overwhelmed???

The Netherlands recent did a similar policy to the UK. Threw open the doors, got rid of all restrictions and cases are skyrocketing. 800% rise in new cases in a week. Then they realised being riddled with COVID will hinder their summer holiday plays of going abroad and are putting in restrictions again.

Lucky I got my haircut recently before they close the hairdressers and barbers down again.
I've had calls from clients already in distress. My regulars come every 3, 4, 5 weeks. Last time around I could work, so none if them went through this. I feel for them and have been trying to recommend anything but a hat to help them out!
Thankfully they're not all that precious, but I have got a good few who are!
Dark roots and light ends are in, so not a problem for the younger ones, but white roots and dark ends is another story!

I am desperate for a cut! First world problems I know! I’m pretty sure a barber / hairdresser is more essential than a bloody florist or donut king!!

There are two homeware shops near me which have been open all along. Why? I should phone the authorities.

I remember in Melbourne during the last lockdown that hairdressers and barbers were among the only things closed in the shopping centres.

Some say that they can cut your hair without the customers wearing a mask but that is much harder for a mens cut.

Because apparently it’s up to businesses to decide if they’re essential or not, according to Gladys.

They’ve got rent and bills to pay, of course they’re going to think they’re essential. Stupid rules.

Hairdressers, gyms, nail salons are forced to close here. Everything else is fair game apparently

I learned how to work around it. It's possible.

All reasonable restrictions.

Hairdressers and nail salons are close contact professions so safe to close them. Gyms most dangerous given how the virus spreads and the sweat factor of it all.
