THE VIRUS 2020 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

Whilst correct, winning their election had more to do with a lack of viable alternatives in those states, rather than voters being overwhelmingly happy with their pandemic response. Queensland & WA in particular had terrible alternatives that were never going to upset the status quo. The WA candidate even admitted defeat before election day.

That isn't to take away from their success in handling the pandemic, as WA & Tasmania's Premiers have done fairly well (Queensland, not so much).

Ultimately, when we stop trying to make the pandemic response a Liberal v Labor issue, and start responding as AUSTRALIANS we will be better off. The constant politicising of this issue, namely from Scott Morrison, Annastacia Palaszczuk and Dan Andrews (who interestingly sit at opposite ends of the political spectrum) will be Australia's downfall in moving forward once this is all over.

Queensland have done excellent.

They were weak but the WA candidate was very good looking so he would have had my vote. 😂

Queensland have done excellent.
Explain this please.

I asked you this very question 2 weeks ago, and you did not respond:
Length of service isn't an indicator of successful leadership and policy. She could serve for 5000 days, but what has she actually achieved?
Not shit stirring, but a legitimate question?
Queensland doesn't seem better off since she's taken over.

I would like to know from a Queenslander, what she has done that rates her tenure as 'excellent'. As an outsider, she lacks direction, she lacks policy and she lacks leadership.

She helped to protect Queensland as best she could by closing the border. To me that rates as excellent.

So closing the borders and preventing those living in border communities from accessing fundamental health care is excellent?
Cutting family off from each other is excellent?
Decimating an already struggling industry ((hospitality, tourism) is excellent?
Stopping people from crossing the borders to go to work and earn money to support their families is excellent?

Don't get me wrong, preventing deaths and protecting people should be the number one priority for a Premier, but at what expense? When does reasoned logic apply? Upon reflection, her response, whilst it may have seemed appropriate at the time, did not pay off. Ultimately, it is Queenslanders that will suffer as a result.

Yes, it's excellent. Sometimes the group is greater than the individual and covid was one of those times.

That's a very simplistic view held by some. What about the people she didn't protect by closing the borders? The tourism industry and border residents etc.

Oops rj90 put it so much better than me.

It simply blows my mind that people can continue to hold such selfish views.

What about every business that closed up? Every job that was lost? People lost their houses. People died on border communities because they couldn't get to a hospital in time. A woman lost her unborn child.

How are those necessary sacrifices for the greater good? Nobody deserves that.

Not that selfish imo.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that makes you selfish.

If you're ok with people not making it to hospital and dying, that's wrong. If you're sweet with people losing their jobs, that's wrong. If you think it's 'necessary' for businesses to close down and people lose their livelihoods, that's wrong.

By all means, keep your little border wall up and continue to spruke your selfish views, but I think you'll be hard pressed to find others that share your enthusiasm for other peoples misfortunes at the hands of a terrible Premier.

I'm probably the most selfish person on this forum. You didn't need to ask those questions to know that. I'm selfish and mean and not at all nice. I am not nice at all. Never have been nice and never will be. I'm like the complete opposite of nice, I'm un-nice.
