The Tim/Ben thing.

Some people are talking about Tim wanting Ben out. Am I the only one who doesn't think that's the plan? In the tonight show he pretty much warned us watching not to forget to vote for Ben. I think he is giving Ben's fans reason to worry so they vote and insure he is safe. Just like when he said Tully was going home which sparked the girls fans to vote like crazy so the boys would be left behind.

Am I the only one thinking along these lines?

i think your reading into it too much especially because tim wouldnt know what will be shown on the daily show but interesting theory :)

Yep I thought the same thing. Him saying that "oh people will forget about Ben" will only ensure that more people vote for him. When he was saying he was sick of him etc that was to give him the sympathy vote. He definitely wants Matt or Ed out.

I agree - Tim is amazing at running the show in that house without actually being nasty as such. He is so great! He would never be over Ben!!!! Ben is his bosom buddy!

He sucks those meatheads in so easily, and Tully. Who knows what he's up to, but to me, it looked fine for Ben & hideous for meaties.
OMG he had them dancing like his little homoerotic puppets, all the muscles mean nothing they are such sappy wusses.

I wish he would make Tully totally flip out.

He is manipulating the meat heads into turning against Ben to ensure one of them is evicted. Tim's pretending he is targeting Ben but in reality he is after Matt or Ed. He even said this in the diary room. Tim is the puppeteer controlling this house. The people he has nominated the past 3 times have been the people who have gone. I think that trend will continue this week.

See that's what I thought too. Tim LOVES Bens weird ways haha.
He might not know what will and wont be shown, which is why he doesn't just tell one person once. ;)

Its funny to see the people outside the house who fall for it also, just saying hehehe

Ben likes to act all victimised and naive and asexual (he acts very different when he's drunk..didn't he admit to watching lot's of porn?). i don't believe that's the real him. he does have moments where he's pretty confident and witty..i think that's closer to who he really is.

It's certainly Tim's game plan to get the Meatheads out first, but he also can't let Ben cry his way to victory.

Tim was up to Jedi mind tricks again. The casual public announcement in the lounge about his Ben epiphany - to set the scene and reel the gullible fools in. Drew sitting there all holier than thou offering his own advice on how to enjoy interacting with Ben etc...AFTER NOMINATING HIM - hypocrite. Oh and by the way, have a gold star for interacting with someone other than Tully, Drew.

And then the fade out to Timstradamus predicting Bro1 and Bro2 as per his nominations marching orders in his diary room chat with BB.

Tim is not Ben's buddy. He just thinks he's not the main threat.

Tim has started to set up Matt.

I think Tim has taken a 10 year course study in psychology. His "targeting" of Ben was too full on and rife with too many suggestions about voting and sides (Tim saying he was switching sides when he himself has established the meatheads/cool kids as the 'dark side' and the Misfits which includes Ben as the 'good' side) for me to think he was maneuvering to get Ben evicted. Contrarily, I think his intent by fraternizing with the 'dark side' and saying he wants Ben out is to cast doubt that he'll remain or is under attack therefore garnering him more votes.

Jade, however, he is targeting and in a cruel way.

I read this thread before having seen the episode - it is up on youtube now on oleHABSole - and thought people were reading too much into it. But,having watched it, I agree that he was telling Australia who to vote for. Saying to Matt 'You two will get lots of votes, and people will forget about Ben.' I really think he was reminding people to vote, because we don't want this to happen.

Also, in the diary room, yeah. He does want what he says to be heard, but I think he thinks only one bro is going home, and is convinced the Sugars are going home, because of the way he counted hms with Drew last night - there are 11 people here now, and after the eviction, 8, just assuming the sisters will go.

The Ben thing is part of a long term plan. He admitted on the hotseat that he sees Ben as his greatest threat, showing a level of insight into the opinions outside the house few seem to have. The other day I asked somewhere on one of the many threads I have been wasting this wet week on how Tim thinks he could defeat Ben. I reckon he has chosen 'He is a mummies boy who must be wrapped in cotton wool, whereas I am playing to the hilt.'

Also, Drew isn't a hypocrit; he is playing a social game where one tactic is deception. He has used his relationship with Tully (which is not a game move, but a weakness) to get close to the guys, who actually hate her, but who she thinks of as allies. He showed his hand when he swapped in Matt, but once one is gone the other wont have any male friends, so it wont really matter. His conversations have never matched his noms.

wow, the OP is giving tim way too much credit. at this is from a tim fan. he's all about chameleoning himself into every group, and sowing chaos while he's there. he has no grand strategic plan or deep strategic moves. he's entropy.

He's said several times that Ben is his biggest threat so why would he be trying to get the public to vote for him? To me it looks like he's trying to reduce Ben's popularity by saying he's sick of him and can't stand him anymore.

I think it's a smart strategy to get rid of any perceived competition early on in the game before they have established relationships with the public, leaving the weaker players towards the end. Look at Mikkayla for instance, if she hadn't been so lucky with all of those saves, she could have easily been evicted in the first few weeks, but now she seems to have developed a fan base (although God knows why, I find her bitter, negative and utterly charmless).

Tim immediately identified Ben as his strongest competition, but he also probably realises (thanks to the live audiences cheers) that being overtly negative about Ben, such as nominating him or actively undermining him, is kind of like shooting Bambi and he'll get the public off side. My thoughts are that Tim is trying to influence the other HMs into nominating Ben each week until he goes, rather than to try to sway public opinion and risk his own popularity waning. I think Heidi was pretty cluey and she said that Ben and Tim are the biggest players in the house, and I think she's right. Tim knows if he doesn't get rid of Ben now, he'll be there until the end. Quite frankly, I think Tim should have struck sooner, he's left it way too late.

I totally think Tim was genuine, he'd rather now see the gimmick HM's like Ben & the Sugar Sisters leave rather then his real friends, competitors or not. Ben's fake persona of "I'm just here to learn guys, gain experiences and maybe show mum & nana around while I'm doing it" is wearing thin with Tim. Unfortunately Ben's "Tortoise and the Hare" "Steven Bradbury" game plan is fooling the young audiences. Ben's starting to call out other HM's behind their backs for only coming on the show for the prize, like he isn't.
