...the many things that you remember as a kid or teenager...

I loved that too, and Operation. One year we got a board game called Park and Shop which we played for years. Do kids still like b0ardgames?

...I used to get the shits really quick with the 'Operation' game Willoughby because my little brother had such a steady hand and always won... my mum and dad bought me one of these... an 'Etch-a-sketch'... it kept me quiet for a while until I got bored with it... I was so crap at using it that I gave it to my brother and never used it again lol!... if I used one now I would be going to the third image pretty quick smart methinks!... lol!... cheers.

...does anyone remember 'The Game of Life?'... aw man this and Monopoly used to cause lots of arguments in our house lol!... we never ended up getting 'Mousetrap' for some reason or another Groover... was it fun or did it cause arguments in your household too?... . cheers.
I don't recall "Game of Life" as a kid, Mr S but I have seen the mobile phone game version of it. I also don't recall fighting re "Mousetrap" (though I probably did)

What I do recall is that there was a lot fighting over "Monopoly". Wow, there were lots of accusations of stealing money, deliberately trying to bankrupt each other with buying up as many motel/hotels possible to win the game.

Oh it was on for young and old when sis and I played. :rage::punch::blackeye:

Monopoly was great as long as I got to be banker lol. We now have a version with credit cards and an eftpos machine type thing lol. How times change!

I love this thread :inlove:
Hahaha, if sis and I were playing the modern day version of Monopoly, we would have been accusing each other of credit card fraud and skimming of the eftpos machine.

I love this thread too.:D

Yes!!!! We have this! We play it at Christmas when the kids come home. We have large numbers of the kids' friends sometimes, several of them in same-sex relationships, so all the mini-vans drive around with 2men or 2women in them. Christmas Night is always for board games at our house. I love it!

...us kids were only allowed to play 'Monopoly' if mum and dad played too so that my brother and I didn't cheat and gang up on our little sister lol... we'd kill her off quick then would battle it out with each other... hence the reason for mum and dad lol!...

...hahaha!... that's why mum was ALWAYS the banker!... she was the only one that everyone trusted not to cheat and embezzle the bank money... even dad wasn't to be trusted as Banker lol!...

...hahaha!... funny funny funny!... I guess the modern version would have to catch up in the end... I'm happy that you both love this thread... it nearly didn't happen so I'm glad that I started it up now lol!... cheers.

Ours is probably 10yrs old. You can still get it I'm sure. Santa might stuff one in your stocking!

...when we were kids we used to hear so many 'dad jokes'... one example was when we were at a barbecue and someone said that they had been looking up their ancestry... dad piped up... "it cost me 200 pounds to trace my ancestry and then it cost me 1000 pounds to cover it up!"...lol!... that was a classic 'dad joke' that I heard quite a few times...

...at another time when I was a teenager we were all at the local RSL and I went to the toilet for a pee... at that time people could still smoke anywhere in the club... anyhow... dad came into the toilet for a pee too while smoking a cigarette... there was a tray sitting about shoulder high in front of dad and there was a sign above it saying 'smokers please' which was for cigarette butts just so that people didn't drop the butts in the trough... dad looked at the 'smokers please' sign and then at the tray and said... "I can't pee that high!"... I went into hysterics lol!... funny as...

dad:... "Peter... how do you keep an idiot in suspense?"...
me:... "how?"...
dad:... "I'll tell you tomorrow!"...

...some of the sayings that my dad said used to make me laugh like... (when I was just about to get a belting for being a little bastard as usual)...

dad:... "do you want me to take my belt off Peter?"...
me (being a smart-arse):... no because your pants will fall down!"... (I only said that once... ouch!)... lol!...

...and another...

dad:... "do you want the back of my hand Peter?"...
me (being a smart-arse yet again):... no thanks... I've got two of my own!"... (again... I only said that once)...

...there are many more...the funny thing is... I tell those exact same jokes all of the time lol!... cheers.

I loved Operation, but I also remember being terrified of it as a kid haha.

I always had so many boardgames. Being a twin my grandparents used to like getting us stuff like that which we could both share. Monopoly was alway my favourite but I remember my mum had to put a ban on it at some stage because it led to a number of fights.

:roflmao: Mr S, thank you for my first laugh of the day:thumbsup:

Not just kids either :p

Get the family together at xmas over a game of Monopoly and see the blood flow as dear sweet old aunty Ida builds a dozen hotels on Mayfair and Park Lane and bankrupts everyone with glee.

Pmsl I remember sis and I playing Monopoly at my place when we were in our 20's and yes, there was an almighty argument about me buying up motels/hotels (the usual crapola) trying to bankrupt her. Sis is lucky I didn't turf her out on her ear. :shifty:The bloody nerve of her. Sore loser :p

P.S God bless Aunty Ida @Meglos
