...the many things that you remember as a kid or teenager...

...I remember when we were hosing each other down with a hose as kids and I used to love drinking from the hose as I was soaking someone until I grew older and saw a TV show that showed all of the parasites that live in hoses... URGH!... I preferred not knowing stuff like that as a kid... (when I was a tad bit more naive lol!)... cheers.

...I remember when 'scoobiedou's' were a big rage when we were kids... people used to laugh at us boys making them but while the girls were making bracelets and necklaces and stuff we were making ourselves 'whips' lol!... (something along the lines of the last photo)... but we had loose strands at the end of ours to 'flay' harder ... we used to whip each other on the legs or arses to see whose one was the most deadly lol!... (it sounds a tad bit kinky now that I think of it lol!)...

...I remember my friend had an 'Ant Farm'... I was so jealous because my mum wouldn't allow me to have one in the house... when I was around his house one day he went to the toilet and I tapped on the glass or plastic of it and all of their tunnels collapsed... when he came back I pretended not to know anything about it when he noticed it and asked me if I did anything to it... (he KNEW that I was lying lol!)...

...I remember something else... as much as I hate to confess this... I... I had... **blush blush**...I had 'SEA MONKEYS!'... yes... you read that right... I had sea monkeys lol!...

...I remember coming soooooo close to buying one of these for a laugh but stopped myself at the last minute luckily lol!... yep!... a 'Pet Rock!'... it's quite obvious that I needed to get a life at that age back then isn't it?... lol!... cheers.

I had an ant farm! It amused me for a good week then I forgot about it and came back to look a couple of weeks later to dead ants lol. Oops.

I had one of these. Loved it.

I loved playing knuckles too.

This was my favourite thing for a while. I used to play it in bed at night after I was told lights out. That's about as rebellious as I got at that age lol. Goody goody.

And this, Turtle Bridge. Lots of fun specially on boring car trips.

Lol I must admit I had Sea Monkeys too. Total fail for me! We used real knucklebones and dyed them with ink. I can't remember the order of the hardest tricks but I recall that "catching flies" could take an eye out! Did any of you play French Elastic? May have been called something different in the city. We would play on the concrete playground, lots of skinned knees for those of us who were a bit clumsy.

I tried but coordination was a problem lol.

...hahahahaha!... that is so funny!... it kept your attention for a whole week?... give an Ant Farm to a kid nowadays and it would be lucky to last an hour lol!... and that bug catcher... I so remember them!... cheers.

...hahaha!... mine actually lasted for quite a while until my tank developed some sort of whitish bacteria in it and killed off all of the sea monkeys so my brother and I decided to just let the bacteria grow inside there to see what developed lol!... it was going great for a while and then some clumps of back spots developed on the waterline and finally the green scungey moss took over the tank until it stunk so much that we had to eventually get rid of it... our mum used to chuck a mental with us over that tank... the only reason that she didn't throw it out was because she was scared to go anywhere near it lol!...

...she asked us where all of the sea monkeys had gone and we told her that they had escaped but not to worry because they die after a couple of days because they dry out... I'll never forget what she said to us... "well you two better clean up all of the dead bodies because I'm not doing it!... they better not have got out of your bedroom or you're in big trouble!"... hahaha!... god bless her...

...we got more enjoyment watching the developing wars between the different bacteria's for territory than we did the sea monkeys lol!... cheers.

This was in the days before internet and social media and phones were not even cordless.
Every assignment in school was done out of the same set of outdated Encyclopaedia and that was just fine lol.
The ant farm was interesting! Until it wasn't lol.

I remember wanting Sea Monkeys desperately when I saw the ads in the back pages of Tammy magazine ... I sooooo wanted them ... but knew mum would say no to sending away to the US for them ...

and when the boys were little I saw them in the shops and they wanted some so I bought them some and was sooooooooooooo disappointed when I saw what they were! I think I really thought as a child they would look like they are represented in the pictures ... I can't imagine the level of disappointment I would have had if I'd managed to con mum into sending off for some! lol

...all those things that you posted crimmy and Insomniac are all so amazing to think that I played with most of them... lol!... (the 'Lite Brite' being the exception)... I can't say that I've ever seen that one before... that Atari game... my mind boggles at how many games and on how many hours that I played on that ... my brother and I were always arguing over 'whose turn' it was on the damn thing lol!... cheers.

I always wanted sea monkeys. Still do. I hated Mastermind as I wasn't good at it, lol. It was a good game though.

Bwahaha I had sea monkeys and an ant farm as a kid. I actually felt ripped off that the sea monkeys didn't look they did in the pics. :cautious:

My ant farm well, let's just say it didn't last very long (me being the clumsy type).[DOUBLEPOST=1448311511][/DOUBLEPOST]
