THE COUCH - TV Chat Thread

US TV attracts me less than British, but I really wanted The Newsroom to be as good as The West Wing. Sadly I can quote that show chapter and verse.

I'm tend to like British TV more, but still get a healthy dose from everywhere. I find I'm enjoying more American stuff in recent years whereas 4-5 years ago I would hardly watch any. Now there are a good number of American shows I can say I love or have loved

Two cathedrals by far for me. Closely followed by the episode where CJ tempts Josh with all the baked goods!
A great choice! I love Nöel and The Supremes too. Really, who am I kidding? It would be easier to list the ones I didn't like...and Josh Lyman was from the pilot episode, my favourite.

Broadchurch and The Hour (which has been cancelled after two seasons) have been stunning British TV.

Anyone sampled 10s new morning shows???

News panel =dire, & chat thing =dire, hmm.

They have thankfully already dumped the annoying woman from the news show, Natasha with horrible haircut, Natarsha Belling & gorgeous Jimmy, now that could work.

The Ita show is hideous, Ita has never worked on TV, and the rest - a boring bunch of nothings, looking quite desperate.
And a guy, I forget his name, he's useless and doesn't want to be there.

Pay Chrissie Swan - anything, and give her a crèche onset, you fools, she is the only female in Australia to ever make this stuff work.
It was a miracle, people who have been on tellie for 30years can't do what Chrissie does.

Cheers I enjoyed Broadchurch but hadn't heard of The Hour so I'll give it a go. I liked one called The Fall too. Not amazing but a good show worth watching

I haven't caught more than a minute or two of the show, so can't comment on its quality. However, Ita has indeed worked on TV. Quite a lot.

Sorry, I realised after posting that what a posted was confusing literally - what I meant was, anything she did on TV other than adds she is shit.
She sells in a quick grab OK. But otherwise she comes across like a dead fish.

They need some people like Gretel, Chrissie.........??????The lot of them on the 2nd show are dire, and looking quite desperate, especially that very thin blonde newsreader

I was so sad to see Natasha Exelby dropped. IMO she brought a vibrancy and life to the show. They touted this as an FM style offering as opposed to Sunrise and Today which are apparently the AM offerings. I think Exelby brought that FM factor. They also need to utilize Sam Mac and Maude Garret more.

Natarsha Belling comes across a little too 'newsy' and James seems disinterested (I was a big fan of his presenting skills in Idol days). It also seemed to me as if Jimmy and Tarsh didn't like Exelby, they either sat silently and awkwardly through her jokes or just cut her off.

Nuala Hafner being in that weird little pill box in fed square is odd. Bring her to that stunning beach set. Who cares what melbournites think :p. Let them be jelly of our spectacular beaches.
I'm just not sure they have differentiated themselves enough for people to find reason to make the switch.

Regarding Studio 10 - I actually think the format is fantastic and it's firing quite well. I prefer when Dan Illic fills in for Joe though. He can be funny but actually kills the flow of the conversation with his awkward gaze into the camera after every joke where as Dan continues the conversation. Jess is a bit awkward but in an endearing manner. I agreed with you initially about Ita, she sat there like Madame muck and about the only thing she offered to the conversation was 'oh no I don't like that' or 'I disagree' or 'I think that's terrible' blah blah. But I really have seen her soften and warm over the 3 weeks on air so I'm still giving her time to continue to grow on me.

Sarah Harris is an absolute SMASH HIT! Perfect for the moderator role, newsy enough without feeling cold. Warm and endearing. She is a star.

I agree with you though. Give Chrissie whatever she wants. The Circle was doomed the moment she left.

So did anyone else just watch the doco on ABC2 on Feeders???! (People who are attracted to really, really overweight women and feeding them).
Wow.

The new 10 morning show is something beyond bad. Not just boring, awkward and clunky bad, it is seriously weirdly bad. Like some doppelganger aliens who don't quite understand human beings made a tv show bad.

Not that one but another a few years ago. Some things you simply can't imagine until you see it.

I saw a trailer for it. It looked dreadful so, no, I didn't watch it.

It was it was quite sad because I sort of got the impression that once again in life the females were doing it for the attention of males.
And like these guys wanted to feed them to the point that they are so obese they're immobile....I think that is basically abuse.
This one?

Just having a look through the site, they've got that Louis Theroux doco on the Westboro Baptists up again too, for anyone who hasn't seen it:

Yeah that's it.

Oh yeah, it's psychological entrapment, making them feel dependent on the one 'understanding' guy who will have them. Nothing new there, just an unusual method.

'Fat Girls and Feeders' was the other one.

Exactly.
It causes pain in the viewer. Must be painful for them desperately doing whatever that is.
Jessica Rowe needs to move to radio, she is awful.

That Fat feeder thing, just the add almost made me throw up.
