THE COUCH - TV Chat Thread

Won't say too much as I know Seven are months behind with Downton Abbey but tonight another episode aired here in the UK which the press hadn't been allowed to see beforehand in order for the story to play out on screen, just as they did with a couple of key turning points last year.

Just wondering with such episodes although obviously the spoilers would be out there did 7 keep the secret themselves or did they just reveal exactly what was going to happen in the promos for the episodes?

They didn't reveal, but teased about death maybe. Couldn't avoid knowing Matthew was a goner since we saw the actor prancing around Hollywood looking weirdly thin

No jessy_girl I watched the first ep and was like meh. I was a huge fan back in the day. I got really really sick of the promos for like six months before it aired. My patience had worn out, sick of waiting. I kinda couldn't get over the frustration I felt when it finally did air. I suppose they bastardized it with twists?

Anybody watching The Blacklist? It's pretty good. I like it but it's getting slammed on whirlpool for poor research and some dumb acting. TBH I was surprised it aired in Australia so quickly after pilot launched in the USA. James Spader is EXCELLENT. I've not watched anything he's been in before.

Blacklist is awesome, it's my favourite new show on tv. James Spader is amazing in it.

Is anyone else watching The Mole? I know it has been mentioned at various points on this forum.

I used to loooove this show back in the day (well, not that bizarre series were they had the live studio audience) but Channel 7 has made a total mess of it this year and it makes me sad it won't be back next year.

It's really obvious to me who the The Mole is, but alas no one else I know watches this show and I can't excitedly brag to them about having worked it out (despite it being, as I said, really obvious). Maybe I was too young in the past, but I've never worked it out before.

I didn't watch the show, but out of curiousity, did you correctly guess the mole?

Who was the mole? The blonde chick? I watched like the first few episodes then forgot about it.

Yep, the ditzy-acting blonde Erin (there were two blonde women, Erin is the younger of the two). It became clear at least half way through to me that she was The Mole.

I wish Channel 7 hadn't made such a mess of scheduling with The Mole.

The scheduling was terrible I would occasionally catch some random episode yet it seemed like they were never eliminating anyone! Thought it might be her; she was the one that totally stole money from the kitty right?? Did we find out if her mic problems were real or not from the flight challenge?

Yeah the scheduling was horrible, the ratings weren't great but I feel like they could've picked up if they had been consistent with airing times and put it on at a more normal hour than 11pm. It was originally 3 eps a week which was maybe too much, so they cut it down to 1. As a result of this they would go weeks without an elimination and then they would chop and change so much, and then you'd have two people leave in one week.

I enjoyed it, but yeah... Channel 7 messed it up big time. Zero chance if coming back sadly.

They didn't say anything about the mics actually, but I would imagine it was part of her efforts. They only really glossed over the things she did and they were relatively basic. I always loved when they revealed The Mole's antics but this time it was a bit of a let down. There were meant to be lots of clues for the audience scattered throughout the show, but they were also pretty lame. ie - Erin was fourth in the opening credits and there are 4 letters in the word "Mole". Blue and ehite appeared throughout the series and Erin is from Geelong & teams colours are blue & white. Super lame.

However, I did work it out, so maybe these clues were effective??

Channel 7 mess everything up! It took them forever to air the last season of Bones, they stopped halfway thru and played old eps for like 6 months and then finally brought it back. I'm actually surprised that we're only 1 or 2 eps behind the US at the moment.

That frustrated me too!! I couldn't get back into the swing of it, cos I never knew if it was an old or new ep. Might have to reschedule bones back into my Sundays :)

Do my eyes deceive me or is there someone else who actually watches Haven?!

I watch about 4 shows each year and don't watch any other television, so I am out of the loop but Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead and Big Brother are positively LIFE GIVING.

But I just started watching American Horror Story upon a recommendation from a friend and it's really good.

Oh and Ja'mie: Private School Girl, but that's not so much of a tv show as much as it is A BIBLE xo

It's weird how Big Brother is something popularly perceived as brainless entertainment for the masses but I and most people I know who watch it are usually very picky about what shows we bother to watch and have fairly high standards. It's not even a guilty pleasure, just something that's damn good.

I hope this doesn't make me sound like a hipster BTW

I actually don't know ANYBODY else that watches it.. or admits to watching it, at least, so I do feel as if it's a guilty pleasure but one I would never give up. When I tell my friends I've been watching it, it's usually met with a symphony of groaning, haha.

I just enjoy watching the dynamic of the house and observing how people deal with each other (all the while living for the drama); I'm certainly not looking for any sort of intellectual awakening so I appreciate it for what it is.

I also enjoy discussing it on here. Who knows Max, we could be the BEST of FRIENDS next year, but that isn't going to happen in 2013 while that thing is your avatar xo
