Thought that the finale of Wild Boys was quite weak.

And the rest of it wasn't? From episodes I have watched it seemed pretty so so. Not bad but not all that good.

Even Rush is over now for good. What an ending? They defused a bomb only to end the show finding another. No more Rush "sad face"

No damn missed it, what was she like?

Did you see my fave guest Wednesday night? Ewan McGregor, gorgeous/funny/scottish - if you utube his appearances on Craig (have been a few), they are fab together, Ewan is like his kid bros.
EM has the best smile in showbiz i reckon, cheeky and with a real twinkley eye

I only catch Craig once in a blue moon, so I missed Ewen, sadly. He always gives great interview, and I'm sure, given both their senses of humour, it would have made for a cracking episode.

From what I've heard, the ending was filmed several weeks before the show was axed, so the series climaxed with a cliffhanger that will never be resolved.

Yeah, it just fizzled out. Dan McPherson didn't get the girl (Zoe Ventoura), which was surely the only interesting "plot" the series had to resolve.

For me, I found the Jack vs. ginger cop for the affections of Mary half the show's main problem, mostly because I found Mary an insipid and unsympathetic character. Jack could do much better.

Reminder to everyone that you must NOT watch Kyle and Jackie hO tonight or I will hunt you down and strangle you with your tv cords!!

I am so tempted though! there will be enough people not watching to ensure its axed, my veiwership won't impact it at all! (also, no rating box ;) )

Considering their celebrity guests consist of the ilk of Kendra Wilkinson, Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian and The Situation, I think it's safe to say, it's very easily give-it-a-miss-worthy.

No cord-strangling needed for me. X Factor & Celebrity Apprentice sound positively thrilling compared to Kyle.

Gawd (though I will admit to being a Kendra fan, I even bought her book and will no doubt buy the second one too).

Speaking of silly celeb stuff, we were watching Sunrise breakfast ysterday (I don't know why either) and they had a little story about TMZ and their new tour that has been running since May, anyway Andrew O'Keefe was so up himself about TMZ basically calling it out as being trash and nothing else. Never mind that their tour is sold out every single day and the fact that they have a website, tv show and web tv show all within a few years.

Yeah Andrew, sunrise is soo classy compared to TMZ. Nobody be dissing my TMZ, you got that!?

I also felt that they never got the tone right. Was it a comedy? There was no real sense of drama, it was all very jokey, but without actual jokes. Dan and Michael Dorman were good, but the rest of the cast (including the hammy Jeremy Sims) either phoned in their performances or hammed it up.

Thank you Australia for not watching Kyle & Jackie O!
Despite the deliberate move by 7 to have The X Factor run about 20 minutes overtime in a shameless attempt to get it's 1,458,000 viewer numbers to fudge the ratings, only 560,000 watched it. Which should be enough to ensure it is not green-lit for a full series next year.:D

I certainly didn't watch it, but I had a look a couple of times to see how awful it was. Kyle & Jackie were still just as stilted as ever.

For anyone who saw the Matthew Newton interview in ACA last night, I thought this piece by Meshel Laurie for Mamma Mia might interest you.

Matthew Newton: The Day After

Matthew Newton appeared on A Current Affair last night to answer some tough questions about his very public derailment over the past few years.

You can watch the interview here

Whatever your feelings about him (or ACA), it was pretty gripping television.

Does he owe the Australian public an apology? Certainly not, but one would think that Brooke Satchwell, Rachel Taylor and whomever else he’s belted over the years might get a look in while he’s establishing his own victim status on prime time television.

He wouldn’t want to cause them any further embarrassment he tells us, or bring the incidents any more attention, though by the very act of committing to a lengthy interview with A Current Affair he is doing exactly that, isn’t he?

Matthew is effusive when it comes to his own suffering, peppering his conversation with words like destruction, harm, panic, scars, breakdown, devastated, sad – all in an effort to help us understand what he’s been through. He turns a question about his final assault on Brooke Satchwell into an answer about his escape from a psych ward and his concussion. Matthew’s conviction for that assault was quashed, but he doesn’t feel he got off too easily he assures us, he feels he was not treated properly at the time for his mental illness.

He’s right about that of course. Late diagnosis after years of misdiagnosis is the greatest frustration of many sufferers, and many more family members who suffer alongside them. Matthew’s talent for articulating his experience is a gift few share and he was able to explain some aspects of his illnesses – which he says include “manic depression, acute obsessive compulsive disorder and some personality traits connected to those two” – honestly and with candor. He says he is now on daily medication to treat his health.

As gifted as he is though, why were there so few words for his victims? Was there ever a dawning realisation, as the medication and therapy did their jobs, of what he had done to those women who loved him? Who trusted him? What he’d taken from them? Is it fair of me to have expected to hear some of that in his comeback showcase?

What of the night that ended his engagement to Rachel in Rome? “I wanted to kill myself.” Really? Because she thought you wanted to kill her, and so did everyone else watching you do it.

Tracy tells him straight that we want to hear he’s sorry, and in what feels like a test of his mettle asks him to take responsibility for damage his episodes have caused. Matthew declines to do so for reasons ranging from privacy to dropping others in it and the conversation is quickly steered back towards Matthew’s own struggles. That’s what therapy is all about, I get it, but frankly I’m shocked that his psychiatrist and others encouraged this attempt at a televised make-good without considering the black-eyed elephant in the room – that Matthew is a repeat perpetrator of domestic violence.

I want Matthew Newton to talk about his domestic violence. I want to know that he understands that’s what it was. I want to hear how his mental illness contributed to him beating people he loved. I want him to help other abusers to understand how this happened in his life so that they can stop it happening in theirs. Is that too much to ask?

Is that even a fair thing to ask of a man who is clearly struggling with his demons and making concerted – and commendable – efforts to treat his illnesses? Does he owe anyone anything? Maybe he doesn’t. But I’ll be honest and say I expected to hear it.

Matthew Newton has the experience, the support, the talent and the forum to make an incredible difference in the lives of unknown thousands of victims and perpetrators of domestic violence. I hope that one day – perhaps when he is more stable - he’ll rally all of his advantages indeed be the man he can be.

Yes he did. Saw them on Rove LA :p they are dating.

Narcissist. Absolutely. I saw bits and just went oh, wow. Familiar much? Those traits would be in connection to NPD.

A minute by minute ratings analysis of Kyle and Jackie O's show last night.

LOL.

Re the Meshell Laurie article, unless she has sat down with everyone involved and informed herself of all the facts of his life over the past 10 years she is in no place to make an informed opinion and her article is just speculation like every other article out there these days.

I agree that if he has had a history of mental health issues that have never been addressed properly and he has no control then he probably deserves a chance. If not and he just thinks it is ok to give your woman a beat down then by all means cast him from public never to be heard of again.

Also agree that he has always seemed very narcissistic

Re Matthew Newton, did he have a history of drug/alcohol abuse prior to his diagnosis?

From my understanding - vaguely going off the interview Bert and Patti did with ACA - he wasn't given a proper diagnosis until around/after the time he pulled out of X Factor and went to rehab last year. So, yes, there was drug and alcohol abuse prior to that.
