I am enjoying Paper Giants too.

Weirdest thing - no computers!

I know! I was only thinking that myself. How on earth did they ever manage without them? And no photoshop!?

After tonight's concluding ep, I'm thinking I might go an old skool prawn cocktail for Good Friday night's dinner. :D

lol mia my dad still bitches about the art of photo manipulation and editing in the darkroom being lost to photoshop :p

Can't wait til I am rich enough to tell people to burn their ugly clothes and go buy new ones!! Though with the state of fashion these days, I would run out of cash pretty quick!!

Also loved when Andrew went to Kerry's office and the door was hanging off its hinges. :)

Anyone know who the Michael character was meant to be based on?
Thought it was interesting that they didn't refer to Germaine Greer by her name. The actress playing the young Germaine did a great job.

Also was Leslie (her secretary) a real person?

The Michael character was based on Michael Dransfield the poet, not sure how he was linked with Cleo though, I think it was largely a reference to Australian literary culture at the time.

Anyone know about this new show "Downtown Abbey?"

It looks set in the 19th Century with old fashioned clothes and such, but lots of lust and drama

Anyone watching Paper Giants?
Asher Keddie does a fantastic job as Ita.
Really enjoying all the retro fashion.
And Ian Meadows looks really hot with the beard and long hair.

I've just watched the first episode, she gets Ita's voice almost perfect.

Thanks for that info, ichi.
I was wondering whether Leslie was real too, or whether she was just added as a representation of the young women of her generation - the very women CLEO was aimed at.

I've seen the ad mud and I think the ad will be the best thing about it. Just my theory.

ASHER Keddie's Gold Logie prospects have taken a boost after huge ratings for Paper Giants: The Birth of Cleo last night.

A whopping 1.344 million viewers nationally watched the second part of the ABC telemovie.

Keddie starred as magazine editor Ita Buttrose alongside Rob Carlton as Kerry Packer.

Betting agencies have had Packed to the Rafters stars Rebecca Gibney and Jessica Marais battling it out as short-priced Gold Logie favourites, but Paper Giants might change all that.

The huge ratings for Paper Giants are sure to translate into increased votes for Keddie in the Gold Logie category.

Keddie also stars in Channel 10’s Offspring and played Blanche D’Alpuget in last year’s Hawke telemovie.

ABC2 will show an encore screening of Paper Giants next Sunday at 8:30pm

hmm. Interesting. To be honest I couldn't work out why she was even up for a gold logie. The only thing I had ever seen her in was Offspring and that was a pretty short season. I coudn't work out what made her a contender.

OH the ad is better then the show .. Ah....... Like movie trailers being way better then the movies they try to sell.

The clothes look like stuff worn by people in the time Jane Austen lived. OMG those complicated dresses, lovely to look at but how the hell would you have a quickie :D

Fans of Doctor Who

Elisabeth Sladen who played plucky journalist Sarah Jane Smith died today aged 62

OMG - was that something sudden? She was gorgeous in the Sarah Jane Adventures. Googling for more info.

And the D/Abbey show looks like great flashy lusty stuff, we need a good nightime soap with nice frocks and flashy houses.

you'll have to watch it to see if I'm right, mud I don't know and haven't seen it. I just think it'll feel like heartbeat or something :D so I think the ad might not give the accurate feel of the show. I might be completely wrong though, you'll have to tell me if you do watch.

I think they showed just all the juicy bits in the trailer for Downtown Abbey. It may well be boring .

I've just been watching all the episode she was in with David Tennant's Doctor and she looked so damn cute.... I could not believe she was 60 or such when she filmed those she looked so gorgeous....

I'll post a bigger message in the doctor who thread

Is there a discussion thread for Hoarders and anyone still watching this? OMG tonight I nearly choked on my coffee. Literally.... That house, feel sorry for the son his sister.
