Agree. I just downgraded my vote to 1 as well. Easily the messiest season we’ve had. Even 2014 was better than this. It's being 1 of the worst seasons in BB history.
The only reason why people rate it higher is because they are just happy its back.
The live shows are beyond putrid, no atmosphere, no hard hitting questions from Mel, channel 9 produced better quality live shows and they didn't even want to do big brother by the end
The live stream is pointless when they constantly cut all the interesting stuff out
The housemate choices where terrible
The editing and style of episodes as terrible.
The production team should hang there heads in shame. Fire them all
Yes they need a bigger budget as they couldnt do the live games & this was a short run for the showIt's been confirmed by David Knox from TV Tonight that it is returning next year.
I sincerely hope they get new producers (and a live location with a roof, for starters).
What money, voting is freeOther than the over-focus on them showcasing romantic relationships. I think my main issue this year is with the lack of transparency in voting, and the way Head Housemate is handled.
The fact that they don't show evictee voting percentages from the public like they used to is a big red flag for one.
That whole phone twist with a random caller having the power to evict someone out of the blue when people potentially spent money to save another housemate, not knowing that one rando (who coulda even been production) was able to revert the entire process.. leaves a pretty foul taste. - We don't know whether Allana or Mia had more votes to save. Hopefully production learnt their lesson to never bring back this 'twist' again
Mia being able to nominate housemates after being evicted was also something that should never ever happen in Big Brother. Once you've evicted, you're evicted. An evictee shouldn't be able to nominate anybody once they're out.
This is why the "Hand Grenade" in 2008 was fair, because evicted housemates could still punish other housemates in a way that didn't actually affect the game. But this year, this whole "evictee chooses to keep a housemate safe for a week" is way too overpowered, and can easily be abused by production to favour certain people. Not to mention the power for a Head Housemate to choose to save someone from being nominated. So now Allana is coasting through because of 1. a random phone call twist. & 2. being saved from nomination by HH.
And because of all these massive advantages and lack of transparency it can feel like there is manipulation from production to save certain people for entertainment value or other factors. They can still do simple twists with nominating as they did in 2005-2008 for Head of House, but not ones that dramatically put into question the sincerity of this game.
I just want normal evictions without all these gimmicks and insane twists next year.
"Better" doesn't equate to "good" though.Better than 7 slop.
Yeah it is for Tenplay voters, but there's still SMS voting as a second option isn't there? What money, voting is free
That was another thing that never materialised. I believe Mel said this was happening pre-season? No SMS voting this year.Yeah it is, but there's still SMS voting as an option isn't there?
1000% agree.Agree. I just downgraded my vote to 1 as well. Easily the messiest season we’ve had. Even 2014 was better than this.
I’d argue this is the most poorly planned and produced season of BBAU, run by clearly incompetent people who beggar belief how they were hired in the first place. I’m embarrassed for them that this is what they delivered after all that PR and pre-season hype over the last year.
I don’t care how dramatic this sounds but when I think of the pre-season marketing and the build up it just makes me feel so disappointed and sad and even angry that this is what we were served up. It’s absolutely crap.
My younger self would side-eye my older self sooo hard right mos for saying this, but I agree… I’d opt for Nine’s era over this season for sure.9 is definitely the best of the modern iterations.
