It was the awkward date that had viewers watching
The Bachelor through their fingers.
But the sister of contestant Emily Simms claims that Madeleine Van Orsouw and Sam Wood's alone time together in the rain was far more successful than Shine – the production company behind the show – would have them believe.
The 26-year-old fertility nurse and the 35-year-old personal trainer are said to have actually gone for a romantic swim together 'under a waterfall' and The Bach 'couldn't keep his hands to himself'.

Like a house on fire! Daily Mail Australia can reveal that Madeleine Van Orsouw and The Bachelor Sam Wood's date in the rain was more successful than what producers would have viewers believe
Emily Simms' sister Kathryn Seamons opened up to Daily Mail Australia as
she defended her sister's portrayal by The Bachelor Australia's production company as 'the villain' on the hit Network 10 show.
She believes her sister is not the only one to suffer from editing choice and used Madeleine's date as an example.
'Let's look back to how Madeline was portrayed on her date – did they show her out swimming under the waterfall with Sam, where he couldn’t keep his hands to himself?
'Nope. All they chose to show was that she was worried about her makeup and hair – and realistically, what girl isn't worried about getting caught in the rain on a date with a guy she barely knows?' Kathryn pointed out.
Romantic: The 26-year-old fertility nurse and the 35-year-old personal trainer are said to have actually gone for a swim together 'under a waterfall' and The Bach 'couldn't keep his hands to himself'
oh look - red wine - be careful - it might stain your teeth!!
'All they chose to show was that she was worried about her makeup and hair': Madeleine was shown as someone worrying about her ruined hair and running makeup
and her hair and makeup would look so much better under a waterfall!!!
On episode four of the show, Madeline was chosen by her fellow bachelorettes to go on a one-one-date with the handsome Bach, but it seems the weather ruined her day out.
Sam took her out on a rowboat ride followed by a picnic, but Madeleine seemed to only talk about her running make-up and wet hair.
After comparing the romantic row to a scene in The Notebook she commented that all was left was a big downpour.
Rowboat ride: Madeline was chosen by her fellow bachelorettes to go on a one-one-date with the handsome Bach
Just like The Notebook: The blonde beauty wasn't happy when the rain arrived and ruined her makeup
But when the rain did start to fall she kept asking him if her mascara was running or speaking about how bad her hair look.
When Sam asked if she wanted something to each during their picnic, she refused, saying: 'I don't want to eat in front of you'.
He persevered and tried to be romantic by feeding her a strawberry but she grabbed it out of his hand, electing to eat it herself in case it gets 'stuck in my teeth'.
'I was trying to impress you': During their picnic the blonde beauty kept talking about her appearance
CHUG!!
OK so that WASN'T actually the caption provided with the pic ...
'I felt older': The seemingly image obsessed 26-year-old left the personal trainer feeling the eight year age gap between the pair
As Sam poured
(chugged down) the red wine, Madeleine talked about it staining her teeth and carried on once more about her makeup.
Stating he was looking for someone who was comfortable around him, she played with her hair, telling him: 'I'm not entirely comfortable today but I could get there.'
'I was trying to impress you and it's all ruined,' she added.
Eliminated: The blonde beauty bid farewell to the other girls after she was the only one not given a rose
yes - because that's the way it usually goes - no rose = adios!
Madeline's behaviour left Sam unsure, with him confessing: 'There's an eight year age gap between Madeleine and I, and I'm not against age gaps at all but there were definitely times I felt older'.
Madeleine was ultimately eliminated with Sam walking her out to say goodbye and telling her: 'I had a good time the other day but I have to be true to myself'.
'I have to be true to myself': Sam walked Madeleine outside to say a proper goodbye and explain his decision
in case we didn't get that the first time ...
