At the end of the day the bach had to pick one. It's the height of arrogance, not to mention stupidity for not preparing for the most likely outcome, to presume each of them were destined to be picked by him ahead of the others and be this 'devastated' because he jilted them.![]()
Okay, pretend for a minute that these are actually real people with feelings. The whole time they're encouraged to open up to him, to be vulnerable, to put down their defenses. So yes, in the back of their head they know very well they could get hurt, but if his actions are giving them no reason to doubt, if he's telling them how great they are and how he can't believe how close they've gotten then obviously it's going to hurt when you find out he didn't feel it all along. It's not arrogance, it's humanity. You can prepare yourself all you like but it's still going to hurt when you're not chosen.
Neither Heather (who I believe had real feelings for him) or I'm guessing Lana (I didn't see the program as I'm at work) seem to be blaming Sam for not picking them or saying bad things about him. It did hurt them though.
